I totally agree. For me, a turn-based strategy game is like a game of chess, and introducing arbitrary, game-altering events is similar to somebody coming by during a game of chess and moving pieces around or stealing them off the board. Perhaps some players would find this entertaining but most would not. Indeed, most would find the interjection to have destroyed the game. I started up SDC to download the final updates for galciv2, but the gamelist section is completely empty (and I have galciv1 installed). There's not even any demos listed. I then tried to update galciv2 using the update dialog I got with the partial download. A lot of net activity happened, but there was no feedback as to what was happening. When it finally finshed the gamelist was still empty, and galciv2 still only runs the update dialog. I haven't a clue what is going on.

I don't know whether this is a problem or not. I used SDC to download the initial block of Galciv2 and got the error dialog: 'There was an error activating Galactic CIvilization II. Error: 0. The selected product has failed to activate, please try again. AppId: gc2. Path: E:\galciv2\sig.bin' However, after closing the dialog I then immediately got the notice that Galciv2 was sucessfully installed. I can also run it successfully to get the update dialog. So it looks like it actually wo
