Planetary Invasion: How is Advantage Calculated? in Strategies Stardock Forums

I am trying to play a cultural conqest game and have been getting creamed by invasions. There will be an enemy transport heading toward SOL and I think "no prob, I have 5 billion people whats that measly 1 billion going to do" Wipe me out thats what! This happened maybe 75 turns into the game. Their advantage when it came time to press the space bar was 14 to 3? So my question is what influences the advantage numbers? Is it just normal for the attacker to have the advantage? Am I missing
