Can I just share with you how much pleasure I get from reading some of the witty threads. Not to mention the sense of *fun* evident in many of them. And you get to read ALL sorts of personalities (some having really bad hair days). Pontius and Bongo (whatever its name is) strike the right cord: I mean, it is a game after all. Despite the scoring anomalies (ahem) already discussed in another thread, I think the Metaverse is a *nice* idea for a non-multi player game. And the score issu

You're a hero Cataleptic! Gotta love those Kiwis. And when don't we beat the Canadians? Kiwi Greg: If I get time tonight I'll check out ezboards. Even if its the only gigantic map you ever play, milk it for those points. I got up to 11 trillion population in mine until I just had to end it. :)

Guys...fantastic! Just logged on and saw your efforts! ANZAC Empire at number 9!! The flag is almost there. I sacrificed my Monday so as to complete a gigantic map for us all, and got a good score. From now on I'll just play for fun. Cataleptic: how about joining? ;)

Oh, and by-the-way, hi there to: Warty, Slitherin, Jaime, Jeatalong, Sandabar, Instigation and Kalon. Not to mention Kiwi Greg, Togakure, 4D and Cataleptic. Kalon: good scores; and I didn't notice the Galaxy Down Under Empire!

Thanks Kiwi Greg...I'll try ezboard later. On the Kiwi board I put up about joining the empires: "Now, my maths is not a strong point, but I *calculate* that if Aussie and Galactic Kiwis and Cataleptic had an anshluss (is that the correct spelling?) the resulting Empire would be 7th: 16,828 + 6,644 + 17,790 = (um) 41,262". I note that but for Cataleptic being *coy* the Kiwis would be ahead of Aussie!! I like the Aussie/Kiwi rivalry, but nonetheless, if a new coalition is formed

I'm sorry, but I can't believe that there are people in the world who don't want to just be kind and show love to everyone. (Although we all agree you can trample those Euro Trash). As a member of the Aussie Empire I just want to give you the Hand of Friendship.

Slitherin: Empire at Number 1 ?! I just don't think we are disciplined enough to play for those high scores. Like you I have other things to do...how do people get the time to play several gigantic maps already? I can't believe you were able to find an ANZAC flag! I re-read my strategy tips and they don't tell the whole story. I do a lot of slider adjusting the whole game. At the start (unlike Cataleptic) I go to 100% spending for as long as I can. I also purchase the trade goods at th

I live in Sydney and just about everyone I know is from Adelaide or NZ. When I go back to Adelaide I'm asked if I'm from NZ 'cause I have a funny accent! And Adelaidians have the same rivalry with the Eastern States as Australia with NZ (only the Eastern States don't even know SA exists :) ).

As for tips, I want to know what Cataleptic does! Are you out there Cat? No.... Oh well, he's probably playing another gigantic map! All I know is that it is bloody hard yakka to get those big scores. Kiss any enjoyment in the last few hours of a game out the window. Anyway, I find it really interesting to read the boards and see what other gamers are doing. My 2 bobs worth for the early game is this: - Found that 50% increase in hit points is good to have (ie War Party) espec

Umm. Good question: is there an ANZAC flag? Wouldn't the Southern Cross flag cover all of New Zealand/Australia/associated Territories? Its just a thought. What do Warty and Slitherin think? After all, Warty started the Aussie empire....doesn't he know its the weekend already?

107 Replies 3,487 Views

Maybe we should become The ANZACS so that we can have our dear brothers and sisters from The Islands join us! There is no other way that the Southern Hemisphere is going to get to the top 5 empires. I can't help but notice Citizen Cataleptic is currently number 2 in the rankings!!! Now that is dedication. ;)

I would love to see: -Uber constructors -Ability to declare war and see war declared against you (sometimes I haven't realised war was declared!) -Starhawk much earlier -scout auto-explore -UP President voted on every 5-10 years or so (which gives a bonus like Alpha Centauri) -lock resource allocation tabs -ability to see a discovered starbase -more diplomatic options -an offensive starbase which has a zone of control Thanks for a fantastic game! :D

With 645 replies I haven't read them all, so I may repeat. Be good to have (like Civ3): * The ability to see what each race (major and minor) is paying you in tribute and when it expires, and vice versa. * When you move a ship it shows how many turns it will take.

On a related topic, some updates have tightened gameplay and closed some loopholes making certain strategies harder at the higher levels, ie. the economic and production changes. The AI may also get better over time at higher levels (if the Metaverse is used to improve the AI). The game is more enjoyable as a result, but people using the earlier versions may be able to win more easily and more often at the higher levels. This is not crucial to my enjoyment of the game, but it is fairer to recog

Badbonez: your comment that the longest period you can sell techs for is 20 turns seems odd. I've found in my current ('painful') game I can sell to minor powers for infinity (ie 2000 turns). That's handy because I know the tribute I will get for the whole game. I get around 800-1,000 per turn. Does anyone-else sell for really long periods?
