They do come appear even if you destroy the colony and recolonize later. ~SDC~
You're not the only one. My guess is that it is the way that it is because it has to work with/on Stardock. But I could be completely wrong.
OK. Fly-man it is. :)
OK, so I've been playing for several weeks and seeing this popup occasionally: http://www.galciv.com/images/screenshots/123200323411AM.jpg I can't figure out what this is showing. I see a couple small people left-center, and something (a fly-man? a piece of furniture?) on the right. Am I just missing some way of seeing what's there? :notsure:
I just had the Draginol appear on a colony with a treasury of something like 400000. I tried to trade a trade good with them; they would not accept 100 bc for 0 months, but would happily accept anything larger -- I wound up with getting >400000bc for 40 months or so. ~SDC~
You need alliance tech and also 'close' relations with the other race. Then in the diplomacy/trade screen you can offer an Alliance on your side of the table. ~SDC~
I'm curious if there is a way to get images of all of the different spacecraft for each race in the game. It would be nice to have a little reference sheet so I can see what kind of ship that is on the screen without me having to click on it. ~SDC~
simply move your terror star next to the victim's star and attack it. ~SDC~
[Jeff George said] "Where did you find that information?" -- RTFM, p. 25 at the bottom of the page. ~SDC~
I believe the 6BCs here are used to maintain your fleet. Fleet maintainance is accounted under military; planet improvements show up under 'maintainance' if I recall correctly. ~SDC~
The only thing you can do is move the constructor away from the starbase, then move back. When you move into the square, it will ask if you want to upgrade the starbase.
I recently had a terror star with a move of 7! I could zip around the galaxy knocking out several stars each turn. This happened somehow when I was trying to form a fleet including the terror star and avatars. ~SDC~
Another exploit here happens when there are two races in an alliance, one is big and one is small and weak. I've had cases where I'm at war with both and the smaller one contacts me to sue for peace and gives me basically everything they have. Next turn, WAR again due to their alliance. Next turn, they want peace and give me everything again. Etc.
2 UP issues (1.01a): 1) A UP resolution passed that required everyone to return to Imperial gov't. Elections were still held periodically. 2) A UP resolution passed to tax the largest economy (Terran) 5% but I wound up getting tribute $$ instead of paying it out. Another issue is that I doubt I had the largest economy; maybe it meant to say someone else but printed Terran on the screen.
I have trouble distinguishing Drengin from Yor on the minimap. Maybe it's because of my laptop screen, but it would be great if it was customizable. ~SDC~
And you can see the total amount you're making in trade on the domestic policy/economy screen (income list)
Hitting ENTER instead of clicking on the turn button also seems to help free this up if it locks.
OK, I played around a bit with taxes. I set taxes to 0% and got 100% morale, then population grew and morale dropped to about 50%. Then I set taxes to 100%, morale goes to 0 and population drops, and eventually morale rises somewhat (to say 20%) as the population drops. So population is certainly a major factor as has been stated above. But taxes also have an effect, and from my quick test it looks like lower taxes are always better in the long run. Shipping folks off the planet would increase m
The relationship between taxes, population, and morale seems a bit convoluted to me. I can understand as the manual says that the population number is only those people who contribute taxes, so increasing taxes decreases that number becuase there's fewer weathly folks. But the actual # of people on the planet shouldn't be affected by changing taxes. And increasing taxes shouldn't increase morale because suddenly there are fewer people. I haven't played around with this myself much... maybe I'll
Hmmmm. I thought a high tax rate would reduce morale. I always try to lower my tax rate if I have morale problems.
Range is measured in sectors from your planets. Some ships can have a range of 0 (the Defender is one) which means that they must stay in the same sector as your planets. You don't want to use 100% spending if it wil drain your treasury. The spending slider tells the workers to get working and they may demand more $$ than you have.
What is the significance of a '*' after planet names? I can't seem to see any logic to it: some of mine have it, some don't, some of the AI planets have it, some don't.
I've had this happen also, and it's because you only get the prompt to upgrade a starbase when you MOVE the constructor onto the starbase. I built a starbase immediately below my colony, and each time I built a new constructor and sent it off from the colony it appears right on top of the existing starbase. The only way to upgrade it is to move away and then back into the starbase.
Here's something I've noticed especially at the beginning of a game. This is with auto end turn OFF. Occasionally (say once every 10 or 20 turns) when I click end turn I see the population graph update but the date does not update, nor do any spacecraft move on the screen. Clicking turn again then processes the turn normally. But it seems that sometimes something but not everything is getting updated.
