It was while I was viewing the map. It usually is, I move around the map and then screen freezes, but I can still toggle buttons in the background. I can even advance the turn. Mouse cursor does not show up so I have to guess. Ship designer can crash for its own reasons so I am playing completely stock with all DLC. I have submitted a ticket. I may need to start submitting more. :-)

I have been playing since launch. I get varying amounts of time playing the game before the game freezes and/or crashes on me. I have followed all specifications from Stardock and this wonderful community. I only played on Small to Tiny maps, stopped using custom ships, shut off my processor auto-cooling (HP CoolSense), forcibly updated my driver because it is an HP Laptop and HP did not have an update available for the Intel 4600 graphics card

I had my virtual memory minimum set to 100,000 Mb and my max to 700,000 mb at one point and I still experienced the same in game freeze. I can play for hours, then the game freezes and you can still hear music, if you are adept at blind mousing over buttons, you can even hear the game continuing behind the frozen screen. I have now tried everything recommended by Stardock and by the community as a whole. I know the team is working on another big patch and I am sure they are hard

Well I got the new driver and updated the game to the test 1.03 patch. I reset my computer settings to allow Win8.1 deal with managing the game needs. I played for roughly 3 hours before another freeze occurred. This is a huge improvement. Ill play around with the settings and things next to see what else I can do to try and get this to work. ;-)

I disabled my antivirus and firewall. No help. Nothing else is running, small map, graphics set to low. I know they are working on this so I will just wait until 1.2 comes out to see if they can get it to run. In the meantime, I plan to purchase a new desktop anyways. [e digicons]:erk:[/e]

UPDATE: Upgrading (forcibly) my driver for my HP Envy Notebook seems to have helped a little bit but it still freezes up. Current Driver for Intel is 10.18.14.4170. Had to bypass the restrictions HP implements to stop updates. We will see if modifying VRAM will help now.

This happens to me as well. I am going to check my drivers and try again, but the game dies on me on Tiny map after exactly 33 seconds. Every time. I set autosave every 0 turns. This allows me to play a few turns at a time, then it freezes again. From what I have played, the game is amazing and I understand it is still early. I even recommended the game on Steam even though I can't play it because I love GalCiv and this is the best game since MOO. Specs:
