Try downloading Ad-Aware from www.ad-aware.com Its free and it catches almost all those nasty spyware and browser hijacker programs. The home page hijacker is probably disguised as an .hta file somewhere on your system. this is a windows script file that is being run when your system boots. You can try and find it by searching your system for all *.hta files then loading the hta files into notepad to examine them. They should all be text readable files. If you find one that

If your evil, I think that you can sometimes turn a 10-14 quality planet into a 15+ planet if a quality "special" shows up when you colonize it. Mid game it might be worth trying it.. let the failed ones revolt or die off. Rob

Actualy, if you avoid the General Discussion board over at the MOO3 site, the messages are not too bad. Try reading the Strategy / Gameplay section or the Mod Section. The people there are the ones that actualy PLAY the game rather than the mostly Troll population of the General Board. Now, I actualy own both games.. and I played both games for a while. I have shelved MOO3 until the patch because the AI is simply crippled by the many bugs in MOO3. GalCiv has kept me busy though. Gal

I think the 40HP Battlehammer is a good change. The BH is NOT useless as some claim. It has a purpose and that purpose is to defensively attack enemy ships near your starsystems. My new defensive strategy is to build BattleAxes AND Battlehammers to defend my planets. The Axes just sit in orbit and defend against any attacks while the Hammers run out and ATTACK the approaching enemy ships if necessary. Rob

Im not sure thats entirely true. On "Normal" level I see the AI building at least 1 "Defender" class ship per planet. They also build "Battleaxes" when they become available. But the AI will almost NEVER build Battlehammers despite the fact that they are the best offensive ship around until Dreadnoughts appear. I think the AI has two build priorities. It will build the best "Defensive" ship it can for defending planets and the best "Offensive" ship it can for attacking. Thus it will build B

Oops. watch the formating in the *.SHIP files.. the board here ate all the spaces. Just change the numbers and dont mess with the spacing in the files... just in case :) PS. By making the Battlehammer a defensive ship and giving it a higher defense value, it makes attacking planets a bit tougher than it is now. (assuming the AI will build them to defend its planets) If its too tough, might have to change the Defense rating to a 5 on the Battlehammer. Have to test it a bit more here.

Ok. For those of you brave enough to fiddle with the data files in the game, you can change the Battlehammer and Battlecruiser to more reasonable statistics. The ship definitions are in text format and can be found in CoreShips.SHIP "Extra" ships can be found in shippak1.SHIP - shippak3.SHIP Battlecruisers are in the CoreShips file while Battlehammers appear in the shippak2.SHIP file. Before making any changes to these files, I would advise making backups somewhere.

Ok, I want to know what the official role the "Battle Hammer" ship is supposed to fill. Battle Hammer Vs Frigate. They both appear around the same time in the game depending on techs researched. This is from memory.. so it might be slighty inaccurate. Battle Hammer: Cost: 200 Maint: 3 Attack: 5 Defense: 4 Hits: 90 Speed: 0 Range: 2 Frigate: Cost: 200 Maint: 10 Attack: 5 Defense: 4 Hits: 45 Speed: 2 Range

Sooo.. thats why the Torians had like 6 starbases with 10+ modules installed by turn 100 in my last game.. I was wondering how they managed that! Another thing I noticed but Im not sure its a bug. Sometimes when I press the "End Turn" button, none of my ships move but everything else updates. I have "Auto Turn" off. If I turn "Auto Turn" on then it appears to be OK. It might just be the way things are sequenced or not.. :) Rob

Heh, for a few years now, the state of Michigan has been trying to levy sales taxes on internet and mail order purchases. Every year when I fill out my tax forms, there is an area for me to "Voluntarily" report how much stuff I have bought via the internet so that I can "Voluntarily" pay sales tax on it. LOL! The funny thing is, the way sales tax in various states works. Some states do not tax item sold via mail order or internet. Some states only tax the items if its sold to a residen

The result of having 1 on 1 battles instead of stacked battles is to give the SMALLER force a relative advantage. Take a 10 on 1 fight, in "Reality" the single ship fleet would have to survive 10 shots from the "Stack" to its one shot fired. Thus, the single ship would do very little damage before being destroyed. With a 1 on 1 model, the single ship has an even chance (assuming equal attack / defense scores) of destroying 1 ship before it is destroyed. At the very least, it will significantl
