didn't see the install bat, but followed instructions on the web site of make sure you have requiem 2.4 before put requiem 2.54 over the top, but with the sick file removed it should work harpo
Has anyone gotten this to work in 1.41? Wanted to check out the mod but I can't seem to get it to work after using the (wonderful!) converter utility....here are the steps I took: Installed Requiem 2.4 into the 1

I checked out Distant Stars....it is VERY cool. The pacing and style are great for epic length games. The graphical and sound enhancements are very nice too. I'm not sure how the balance and pacing would work for multiplay, but I'd be willing to give it a try sometime. I'm using an XP install that only uses 2GB ram, and it has been fine for me...I just turned down the graphics settings to medium.
Scouts never have been too powerful, however I could understand if Advent scouts were nerfed about 25% in health. They are just a smidge too tough.
25% is not really a "smidge". At 825 health, for 200 credit / 2 fleet they are one of the most health efficient units in the game for cost and fleet points. I never said I had a problem with scout fleets...I said ADVENT scout fleets. Especially when someone gets some feed (which NEVER happens, right?) ....i

Advent Scout armies backed by other ships are actually pretty hard to fight.....the Advent scout is about 30% tougher than the other scouts ....about as much health as a Disciple, but cheaper. Scouts are pretty worthless attacking defenses and fold easily against developed late game fleets, but someone who builds a scout army immediately and uses it aggressively will prevent you from massing up a late game fleet. As Vasari, the best way to fight it is with an aggressive SB strateg

I wasn't really hooked....the characters didn't really grab me and I found the whole situation kind of contrived to get some civilians through the gate. I like the Stargate franchise as a whole, but they are going to have to step it up big time to save this series. Also kind of interesting how "lost in space" is a major scifi theme to reinvent a show (remember Voyager?).
All because someone built one starbase in one of your systems... you must now change your whole game plan. You build A, I build 20 of B. that is not a strategy game, it is boring and predictable
Starbases are not that hard to kill while being built...yeah, it is a problem after they are upgraded, but why did you let it get to that point? While I tend to agree that starbases slow the game down a bit much for my tas

Very nice changes.....while Lums still seem to be the LRM war kings, Basic Frigs are stronger, Flak is a little less effective, and HC's are more effective. These are all excellent incremental steps to find balance. Add in all of the Capship changes to help out the lesser used caps and I start to feel a strong urge to set up a windows gaming environment and come out of retirement.....

I can empathize with the your frustrations with Compliance and over-regulation. I worked at a very big financial company for almost a decade, and I eventually moved up into an IT Operations / Project management position where I spent most of my time coordinating environmental change tickets between the various departments. After Sarbanes Oxley was passed, the bureacratic bloat and overhead required to get any work done became outrageous. The bigger the company, the more time
Take the Starcraft: Brood War expansion... it added quite a few new units, which changed the way people strategized dramatically. Sins didn't change much with Entrenchment, except maybe for people who do a ton of micro-ing, which I don't. Basic formula: colonise to get more resources, build up big fleet, crush enemy.
Bottom line, you don't like Sins that much, and this is fine. Sins added a respectable amount of content for $9.95. </

All bdgackle is saying is that a well placed, more profitable refinery is a better long term slot investment than a tradeport for very long games. I said the same thing 1.5 years ago in the other thread I linked. The longer the game, the more the construction / research considerations become negligible compared to the long term profit potential. The only time this doesn't hold true is when you have very long trade chains...then a tradeport could actually become more valuable

I've used the nerfed RA several times in long multiplayer games. It is a powerful option that allows Vasari to stay competitive in endgame. Unlike the old RA, you still have to maintain an economy and know how to fight your enemies. The old RA was a crutch for people who often didn't know how to win without it.

Yeah, it all depends on what you want...a Skirantra is a great ship for when you need repair.
No, $10 isn't that much, but compared to the DLC you'll get from something like fallout 3... you get VERY LITTLE bang for your buck for Entrenchment/Diplomacy. A few new units, a bit more tech. Most games, when they release DLC, end up adding whole new gameplay areas/types, etc, enough to add 5-10 more hours of gameplay to a singleplayer. Granted, Sins isn't a singleplayer so you can't really just add new "areas," but point being, we're essentially paying for wh
Sins have not a 2gb limit... it is a OS problem... a original non tuned XP 32 bit can only address 4 gb where 2 are for application and 2 for the system... a simple edit from the boot.ini and adding the "/3GB" will allow to use 3 gb for application... on 64 bits windows OS, the WOW64 mode for 32 bits application allow a full 4 gb by application... so, it is not something hardcoded in sins... test with other 64 bits OS have allow me to reach game taken around a max of 11 gb... always cr
The vasari especially have ahrd time with this because they cannot uber spam ships against the advent like the TEC can.
Late game the Vasari are actually better suited to fighting the Advent because of Phase Missiles and suicide Subverters. TEC does have the ability to overwhelm Advent up to a point, but when Advent reaches a certain critical mass, it can destroy a much, much larger TEC fleet.
The only criticism I have towards Stardock at this point is that in the past, there have been companies who have released content like Entrenchment for all players for free before. I mean, it is $10 - but that $10 of our cash. I suppose that I shouldn't complain - I only recently bought the game on the weekly Impulse buy with Entrenchment for about $20US.
Who has released a full expansion pack for free? Sometimes companies release things like new units, like Total
Chris, I did a similar spreadsheet comparing durability (or toughness for all Cap Ships). But included Armor, something you are missing here. It is my understanding that 1 Amor is essentially equivalent to a 5% boost in hull. So 2 Armor = +10% hull. Etc. Etc. Kortul: Base armor 5.0, +. 0.40 per level = 8.60 (ie +25%, +2% per level = +43%) at 10 Kol: Base armor 5.0, +. 0.45 per level = 9.05 (ie +25%, +2.25% per level = +45.25%) at 10 Radiance: B

My experience is that the Kortul often wins killing other Battleships...it kills the enemy ship's Antimatter, and then it is able to keep running Power Surge which turns the tide of the fight back in the Kortul's favor. This isn't to say that it is the best Battleship, I think it is probably the least useful, but it is pretty good in long 1v1 fights because of Disruptive Strikes. A Radiance might win if it starts the fight with full antimatter, it isn't like I have done co
There is no problem with the illum being as strong as it is now, there is a problem with it being as spammable as it is now, but take away the illum and the advent have nothing but caps for most of the game.
Sigh.....the problem is there is no counter to Illum / Flak / Repulse. All I'm trying to say is people should discuss this and not cry "spam spam spam". You don't have to nerf the Illum, there just have to be viable counters, like Subverters were a viabl
Illuminator spam is the problem.
Exactly, it is an Illuminator balance problem. That they choose to spam it is not the problem. When you complain about spam, it is a vague complaint, because in my experience, most games of Multiplayer Sins from the day it came out had spam. Redirect your complaint specifically to Illuminators. At one time or another I've had attackers spam me with Scouts, Disciples, LRMs, Assailants, Illuminators, Kodiaks, Enfo
