IMO the best rush is the one that counters your opponets fleet. You cant just stick to one strategy. I've seen a 100+ colony fleet used against me. Suprisingly strong.
I suppose they could put up a reasonably good fight if you had 100 considering they are hard to kill and can counter some ships, but they cost so much in metal & crystal, if they have 100, you must have a bigger fleet.
Sure there is. Just because it doesn't work doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
LOL -- good point.
Flipkik is messing with you ...there is no colonizer frigate rush. [e digicons][/e]
You know, if you are playing single player and it is too easy, you just add more AI's of harder difficulty. Even if the AI's have problems with your starbases, you will start to savor the challenge when there are 5 AI's vs you!
I don't play Single Player games, but I have noticed that the AI sucks when attacking player defenses now that starbases are in the mix. Prior to Entrenchment, I could at least count on the AI to put some pressure on the enemy if I had an ally disconnect. With Entrenchment, I have seen the AI get pretty much paralyzed by enemy defenses or lose entire fleets in a heartbeat to exploding TEC starbases. From what I've seen, the AI is not great at attacking starbases.
I didn't mind Multistar too much before Entrenchment....it is just crazy now if one team ends up in the same star. They will bottle that sucker up with multiple allied SB at the chokepoints....makes for painfully long games. The no feeding option would work as long as a change was added to allow players to designate a new HW for free if they lose theirs. That way someone can get back in the game even if they lose their HW. I kind of like the idea of fleets having to reinforce their alli
Distortion field - overnerfed. Still powerful, but completely one-shot. Subverters never survive doing this, cause after using this ability this very slow, weak and clumsy ship ends up with the majority of the enemy's guns facing its sorry face. They're just asking to be killed. I suggest the subverter jumps back to where he cast the Distortion Field after the channeling ends. That way, it may live to cast it someday again. It sure as hell won't be able to spam it, with its current AM cos
Sins doesn't have any type of "border" control like modern Civ style games. If there was a NR timer and I saw a vulnerable neighbor, I would park my fleet on his HW right before the timer ran out and chant down the final 10 seconds of the count. Anything can be abused if not well implemented. Rushing is nothing new. The only thing new is players new-found dependency on Starbases. I actually rushed more a year ago because players were overall less skilled at defending themselves. Nowad
I would agree the Kortul needs a little love....but I'm not real interested in arguing about what it needs. Luckily, N3rull is on the job!
I though IC was in Canada?
Yes...in Vancouver. You have to work a bit to get someone from Vancouver excited to go see Seattle.
Hehe...there is a reason Annatar has so much Karma...he has replied on threads over 10500 times. I'm sure not all of them were in Sins threads, but in comparison, I only have 900+ replies, and Amish has 600+. Amish writes a lot of guides, so he has a fair amount of Karma. I answer a lot of questions, but I don't do quite as much hand-holding as the really helpful posters like Annatar & Darvin, etc. People often like to argue with me for some reason. ;)
It means Stardock people stuck in Michigan are excited to escape to PAX for a few days while IC and GPG people are busy / already living it up on the West Coast. =)
The Advent need a strong late game fleet though, they start out with a pathetic lf and it takes a little while to get illums. The mothership helps, but until an advent player gets sufficient illums or carriers, they can be pretty much ignored. If they were weak both early game and late game there would be no reason to play them.
Disciples actually have the highest DPS per cost / supply cost. Yes, they are weak, but there are more of em. Later on Steal Antimatter is very good
You shall repent!
....if you don't buy some Thin Mints!
O K -- I will chime in with some thoughts before y'all break something. Ol' Stick in the Mud Cykur time =) Kol: GRG: I agree it needs to be upped in damage by 100-200 pts. Maybe 1K range increase across the board. I wouldn't reduce AM or cooldown. If you give this ship the ability to cycle that fast and combine it with a Dunov, once they get a few levels it will become a capship ganking platform. Sova: Embargo:&n
Bruce Willis was a ghost the whole time. Now you don't have to pay again to see the end.
I sense a kindred spirit! (and I don't mean Bruce Willis') [e digicons]k1[/e]
I had to leave the movie early.....I was really enjoying it but the young lady I brought along was getting ill from the handheld "cinema verite" of the movie. Do not bring people to this movie who are squeamish or require dramamine for car trips. I am going to have to go back to the movie theater and watch it again to see the end...lol. And yeah, Peter Jackson just produced it. Kind of an interesting story, they were originally getting resources together for the Halo
So, who's going to stop by the booth and say hi?
Dang, I wish Seattle wasn't so far away from anywhere I might happen to be. Still...I am known to do some crazy long drives sometimes. Is the Stardock booth going to have an Ironclad presence as well? Anything special planned for any of the days?
Ultima IV Starflight Pirates Elite Wing Commander X-Wing Civilization Master of Orion Star Control 2 Doom Master of Magic Warcraft 2 Master of Orion 2 Quake Starcraft Total Annihilation Everquest Shogun Total War Medieval Total War World of Warcraft EVE Online Sins of a Solar Empire I probably forgot something .....
An Advent player REEALLLY shouldn't be making Illums if there is a metric crap ton of TEC scouts rushing him.....
Quoting King_of_kings, reply 1 ~The kol is the best for dealing with a bomber spammer. And is also good with illums. euhm... vasari bombers will kill you're KoL before it can even get close to wipping them... Food for thought.
Well...Vasari bombers kill just about any cap....a Kol IS one of the more survivable ships when backed by repair.
No offense to Amish, but I would have to say Annatar beats him in terms of knowledge about Sins (well, maybe not the MP part, but still) Still, Amish is defenitley #2, by quite a bit. He is awesome
It is pretty hard to single out any one guy as the most knowledgeable player -- most helpful player is probably more of what you mean. There are a lot of very knowledgeable players out there, some of whom don't post much, like JJ. <p
Hey RA, since you LOVE old threads, here is one where we discussed Refineries and I did some math. [link]https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/306945[/link] This was back in the 1.03 days when the black market was low...I also have lower numbers for things like trade port income and income for each extractor in a refinery's domain (.06 was what I used back then...did this stuff change on us at some point...I mostly focus on the military side of things, so maybe I missed
Things are the same, but different. In the world that spawned this thread the LRM was the long range frigate of death, not the Illuminator (Pre 1.04). Illums were anti-capital damage ships back then and could actually be fought with cobalt spam (I did it a couple times..hehe). Illums were still effective once you massed em enough, but they were a bit harder to get rolling. Advent end game fleets were actually harder to fight due to the pre-nerf Progen and Radia
Sorry, to answer the original question: TEC's fatal flaw is being mediocre and Vasari's fatal flaw is expensive ships, infrastructure, and technologies required to be effective.
