For me its the entire monitor. Diskcheck shows nothing wrong, I'm 90% sure its a GPU problem so I've contacted XFX tech support. Hoping the lifetime waranttee does what its supposed to.

Nevermind, this is happening with all my games now. I've contacted XFX to see what they have to say... I certainly hope it is a video card error, and not something worse. If anyone has any general suggestions though, please let me know

I'm having the exact same problem as the OP. I've spent the past day or so trying to figure this out, because initially I thought it was a hardware issue. Now, I'm becomming convinced its a software issue of some sort (either DG or drivers etc). I am running an 8800GT card with a E8400 Core Duo Processor, 4GM RAM. My issue is exactly the same-- within a minute or two of starting a new game, the screen goes black, sound stops, but the computer keeps running as u

If you choose A, you get kinder (gooder doesnt work :D ). If you choose B, you stay neutral. If you choose C, you become more evil. I dont really like the evil interface. Just isn't as "sharp" as the neutral. Unfortunately, I have a tendancy to become evil. :)

My suggestion- the very turn you get that message, send ALL of your forces to the planet. Assuming you have a high enough tech, you should be able to beat the event. But, I would not worry too much- I am sure Stardock is working on an improvement to the random events system. They seem to be very good and dedicated to fixing things/ making things more fun.

The only problem that I could see with saving/loading lists would be that at the start you would not have the right tech for the buildings- at which point bad things could happen (crashes). OF course, I'm not a dev so I could be talking out my ass here. :D I would really like to see that happen, though. Its a pain to redo the lists for every single game.

"Easily said Rhett =) Cept in my games they come early. IE my only agressive ship is the star fighter with 3 attack. And my best defense is the BattleAX and some defenders. Pretty impossible to stop them. " Yea, its much easier said than done :D I think if they come that early- you're screwed. Unless some other race manages to take them out for you.

First things first: great game!! I am thouroughly enjoying myself (all I seem to win are cultural victories so far, but a victory is a victory :)) 1) Let me add my voice to offer expanded United Planet options. This is a really fun part of the game to me and it would be cool to bring resolutions to the table to be voted on (trade embargos anyone?). Anything you could do to expand the UP would be really cool. 2) This might already be in the game (I havent seen it yet, but...) bu

I had the same thing happen to me- I had just come off of a completely victorious war against the worthless/goody goody Torians. I just ignored the message when it came up- I figured I could handle it- plus it was one of my best colonies. 5 turns later- bam, bunch of ships. I rush everything I have down to the location (the war was being fought at the very top, this colony was in the very bottom right), but they didnt get there soon enough. So I reloaded, moved everything I had down into the cor

1) Try ajusting your economic sliders (tax rate vs. government spending- found under the domestic policy screen). Make sure that you keep earning money, not losing it. 2) First you build a constructer. Then you send it out to a resource (shown as X's on the minimap, but they can look like any number of things on the regular map- red triangles, purple circles, yellow cylanders, ect). When the constructer reaches the resource, it will ask you if you want to build a starbase. Click yes, a
