I've got another, somewhat related question. Seeing as how starbases benefits stack, Is there any benifit to build starbases in each sector along your trade route, as opposed to simply building multiple starbases all in one sector (say the one with your source planet)?

I remeber these manuals as being quite good: -Civilisation -Master of Orion 2 -SMAC -Fallout 2 -Falcon 4 (although the game itself was a bit of a mess at release)

gal lord, What if you knew that the one class 20 planet would give you more income, but that the 2 class 15 would provide for more research. Now you'd be able to make an intelligent choice based on the information, rather then just guessing blindly.

> P.S. This is in direct response to the "Brad- Come > Clean" thread and the postings therein. Actually, that thread was tittle "Brad - please Come clean" ;) Alright, I admit it was an ill chosen title - mia culpa, however my intent wasn't to accuse, but to obtain definate answers, in part to put a stop to all the accusations of AI cheating. BTW I don't own MOO3, and am enjoying GalCiv quite a bit.

I have a different perspective. I like to play the game, not 'learn the mechanism'. I play mostly boardgames, such as Twilight Imperium (which I believe Brad has mentioned is one of the sources of insperation for GalCiv), and in those games there are obviously no hidden mechanisms(there can't be). The fun comes from all oppenents sitting down with a full understanding of the rules and attempting to outwit each other. Perhaps I've been out of the computer 4x games for too long,

First of all I was not trolling. My 'silence is deafining' comment wasn't in reference to my post, but to the questions appearing in other threads that have been asked, and until now, not directly answered. Brad, I'm sorry if you feel that my post was direspectful, but I was simply trying to get a definitive answer on these questions.

aweill, I'm not talking about the income multiplyer. That has been well documented. I'm interested in the SPECIFIC things that I've mentioned. A simple yes or no for each one is all I'm looking for. As far as I'm concerned, the silence so far has been deafining.

konfuzed667, give me a break. Until your post, this thread was quite civil. I think it's only natural to want to know how the game mechanics work. How else are we supposed to base are strategic decisions? This is the kind of information that with most other games would be included with the manual.

Lately, several people have made the claim that the AI is cheating in various ways. So far, StarDock has confirmed that one of these 'cheats' (the AI knowing the location of all yellow stars at the beginning of the game) is true, but has remained silent on the other issues. These issues include: -AI knows where all all resources are -AI knows not just the location of the yellow stars, but also the quality of each planet -AI knows where player colonies, starba

I tend to agree with Dearmad in that I think these exploits are damaging to large number of players. If these problems are too difficult to fix with AI (which is understandable) then I'm in favour of fixing them with hardcoded game rules (ie. enforced peace, inability to buy ai ships in orbit, etc.)
