A few sci-fi suggestions: Planetary development: Have system-wide development, such as asteroid belt dev (increase in production in system), Kuyper belt etc. Perhaps some new tech like space adaptability where your population can start inhabiting outside of a planet (this might be mapped out as a 6th "planet", not available until tech level(s) are developed. This might go all the way to when you convert all the planets to a Dyson sphere! (I would recommend making these real long ter
