Anybody win at half decent AI by playing technologists. Seems like its quite a disadvantage?Because your basic money seems to come from tech discoveries.

In my last horrible losing game,I noticed the AIs population grew very quickly, but I dont know how he did it while paying for everything else? Not that he has more worls but the population on thos eworlds grew rapidly.
yep 2/3 of my bcs were going for maintenance costs.
My last game I died economically early because I built upgrades with maintenance costs.I dont think you should build a lot of these until youve got some trade. On the other hand starbase modukes seem to give you some of these benefit for an initial price but with no maintenance costs or very liitle.Do starbases incur maintenance costs. Also in the very early part of the game is it better to not even move the tax slider, thus having a higher population growth with a higher morale?Im not sure the lit
Trade is calculated on a per turn basis it seems.Ive seen a freighter move from one sector to the other where the sector it was going to had starbase with trade modules. It seemed to give a percentage of trade based on the value of one sector and the sector it was going into. After the freighter was fully in the trade enhanced sector,it riecieved the full value of the trade plus the starbase upgrades. Also as it got close to the home planet the trade value went to its lowest value.
Also is it only your trade ships that rieceve the starship bonus or any other nation trading with you as their ships pass through your starship sectors? But it also says that the ships trade is worth less the closer it gets to your planet and worth more the farther it travels to another planet. So what is the mechanics as a freighter enters a sector as far as calculation of trade?
had a game crash and could not restore saved game. When I went back into the game I got a wierd screen with the galaxy map all red in color with no info on the screen. :sniff!:
One thing you might know is that a really high moral makes your population grow faster.Keeping it at 55% keeps you in control of the senate I bielieve.Amd I dont think higher pop.makes you more productive.
cool thanx.
I like the variety Im seeing with the UP issues. It seems a lot of creativity was put into this.Oh and when your enemy has a lot more transports than you, dont allow transports to be armed.I voted yes.Duhh!!
I meant 4 billion not million.
Some suggestions.Do you have an espionage points to stop some destabilization by other races? If you want to experiment save your game and try to sell off items to get cash to get out of debt.Maybe sell a world or two.Get as much as you can.Build transports a ton as 1 transport can hold 1 billion I think.Do as many as it takes to get your population down to 4 million per planet. What numbers are your class of planets up to?Then see if your moral goes up after a few turns.
If I have an alliance with a race do I get military boosts from his starbases when Im in those sectors? If not why? Would make alliances really cool.Or would this unbalance the game? Umm Mr.big bad Drengin sir.I just formed an alliance with the Torian race.My ships are now receiving the benefits of his 35 hit attack points.
yeah.Whats your population? Is it in the 5 to 6 billion range?Well happy you.Youve run into the fun morale/population killer. What turn are you into and is there a dominant race in the galaxy? Could also be being destabilized.
A quote from the box."Gameplay events are designed to ensure that each game is a different experience."Hmmmm! Doesnt seem to be working out that way.Unless tossing your keyboard is a unique experience.
Someone said that a planets population gets used to a tax rate and it will take a while forthe population to react good or bad to a new setting. Is that true?
I know colony ships are a must in the beginning but does any one buy one extra survey ship or a scout ship?Does it depend on small large or huge galaxy. Also I dont see how the way you have to shuffle your colonist around to get the maximium benefits,(if your pop. goes over the limit, adds to gameplay at all? It just seems to be an added nuisance to me rather than trying to make improvements that would help an overcrowded planet become happier. Shouldnt this be tied to the evil,
