WriteIt is a tablet PC utility from Lenovo that allows pen input. When this is installed, trying to open any application from the Start10 Universal Application list fails, and the screen flashes and redraws itself. Opening any application from the Windows 10 start menu works fine. If I uninstall the WriteIt utility, all of the apps open OK from the Start10 application list. This problem appears with both Start10 V1.5 and the 1.52 beta. I hope that you can get Start

Bichur, I already tried that once, but I tried it again with the same result. I uninstalled IconX, went to Register products to verify once again that my Object Desktop serial number was correct and up to date, and then reinstalled IconX - after which it still thinks it's the shareware version.

I am a paid-up and registered owner of Object Desktop. I just updated one of the components (the latest DeskTopX beta) through StarDock Central, and after rebooting IconX is convinced I have the shareware version installed and won't let me save any configuration changes. As Chris Nahr has noted in another thread, there are some syntactical errors in the PlanetImprovements.xml file (specifically double dashes "--" in an XML comment starting at line 1958) that prevent Galactopedia from opening up this file. It's easy enough to fix the problem (e.g. edit the file in any text editor and delete the dashes), but if I do this will it screw up anything? Specifically, will editing the file mess things up if I want to play a metaverse game and post my score?

One of the things that has really driven me away from really using the Object Desktop package is the way that simply loading IconX changes my desktop icons from what I am used to seeing to the "default" that IconX chooses that I don't really like to look at. I would like to use IconX to make small changes from my XP desktop - what I don't want to do is have to undo the large changes from what IconX thinks my "default" desktop should look

I recently finished a game played with the 1.09 beta version of GalCiv, and while my upload of the results at the end of the game was reported as successful, it has not shown up on the metaverse web page. And in a quick search through the scores of the best players I can find no report of a game played with a version higher than 1.05. It's not a big deal, but I find it hard to understand why after shelling out an extra $30 to get a beta version of the program I should be rewarded by a
