Well, thank you everyone who posted here. I finally got updated. The hard way. It took a surprisingly short 6 hours to download 84MB at 56k dialup speeds and for some unknown reason, my ISP didn't cut me off. Sweet. Now to go test the bug fixes... Hi. I've followed all the instructions in the link for registering. Stardock central shows that I've got GalCiv 1.01 installed and that I can update to 1.01a. Now that I think of it, I was doing great financially all game, and then I noticed my cash reserves turned yellow. I think that means you're taking a loss right? It was like that for maybe ten turns before I lost control of the Senate to the Mercantilists, just like you said Harry. So much to learn, but it so good!

I've only been playing for a few hours. In my first game where I actually tried to do things (rather than just learn the game) I slowly lost control of the Senate. I was with the Technologists party, but the Merchants somehow got more seats than me and edged my party out. Thing is, how the heck do you influence the senate? How do you keep from having your party get voted out? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
