May I humbly suggest a change in the English.str from this: [TABLEALIAS OptionsMenu] [ScreenTitle] Options to this... or something like: [TABLEALIAS OptionsMenu] [ScreenTitle] Options Panel - Game Version I know it's a silly suggestion but it looked so much better in my game then "Options 1.02" ;) Of course I'm sure people will *still* post on the forum asking how to find out what version number they have ;p PSS -

What's that? I can't understand you, you're speaking troll...
Only if they aren't water proof! LOL I think lower PQ also represents bad weather, harsh temperatures, unstable tectonics, etc. so it's really not good for ANYONE to try and work from. (PS - spend enough espionage and you will find out that Soil Enrichment is a Yor necessity because Yor secretly love flowers and floral design. We won't even talk about their fascination with interior decorating and "habitat improvements"...)
open any of the .ship files that are in your data subfolder with a text editor. Check out the mods forum: <-------- GC Mods button to the left of this screen ;)
What would be cool is if you could re-enter each time you meet a new major race, but with a severe loss in influence that comes back slowly over time. Maybe - "Now that we have meet the %ss, Should we ask them to sponsor us in rejoining the UP?" If you agree half your influence goes to the %s (whoever they may be ;) for the next UP vote... oh and it doesn't improve your relationship with them it just gets your butt back in the door. Why? To eliminate
"Can we have it where when we are setting up our civ to start a game it also gives us the option to preset the extension part of a ship name? i.e. whenever a new ship is made instead of starting out USS it will have whatever you want." I second this one. Cari already has this on the suggestion list, but just to be sure I would love to see the last of the hardcoded strings moved to English.str such as: [Sol] Sol [Mars] Mars etc. [Carinoids] Carinoids [Alexians] A
>Hmm....thoughts thoughts.....well I think my first thought is that you're smarter than I am! HA! I think not!!! Proof of that is how much time I am spending thinking about GalCiv... it's a sickness I tell ya! ;) (The worse part is I PAID Brad, Cari, Scott and the others for this... I thought crack was supposed to be free... at least your first time! LOL ) Anyway the culture thing would be easy to implement because there is a culture ability in the game (that's the one us
I can't believe this thread even exists! Two weeks ago people were lamenting that there wasn't enough variety in events... and now people are complaining that there is!?! :notsure: I think that some events SHOULD award neutrality or good over evil. Not every event, but some... I think it makes things interesting and not so predictable. ... but what do I know :p
I don't think the mods delete any threads... which is why theres so much to read through here!!! ;p There are lots of game reviews around the net. They usually give GalCiv anywhere from 75% - 90% so I would say that's a pretty good sign. I love the game! LOL I'm sure many others will post the same here for you. THE BEST part of this game however is that the developers (creators of the game) come to these forums and not just listen to complaints and suggestions, but
Hmmm... another thought - do any of the current achievements affect more than 2 abilities? If not test your swithout one of the bonuses ;)
Maybe a bug, but try some of these to see if they work: 1) Try putting it in achievements.imp (if it's not) 2) Put it at the bottom of achievements.imp, but put it in TWICE (remember how they used to have placeholders at the end of the file) 3) Change ID number to something else (mabe 21) 4) As a last ditch replace one o fthe achievements just as a test. Maybe something in the game is hardcoding only using the first 10 achievements... 5) Good luck! Report your findings s
Carinoids, Alexians, etc. (I think there are four or is it five...) are "hardcoded" into the executable, but I believe Cari has added it to the ever-growing-suggestion list to place these in the English.str I hope this one goes through on the next update because I almost ALWAYS encounter the Carinoids... (Cari: "I call them mini-me" ;) )
Chuck1es - heh no problem ;) Your suggestion follows a lot of what others have thought... that unused production should translate into small amounts of cash and / or maintenance. I think this comes from Moo/Mom/Civ where you can just set planets on "Trade Goods" or somesuch and get cash each turn. Personally I'm not keen on adding more money, but that's because I don't understand the macro-economics of the game in detail yet. After thinking over my post above I think social pr
Relating to the last post NO screen should pop up until the one in focus is dismissed. Too often I hit the close button and the new window pops up over the top of the old one. It looks bad and is distracting. When closing a window it should close completely, refresh the background and then check for the next pop up screen to be displayed. Thanks guys (you know you are the best! :D )
Cool pic Douglas! Did you make it? Convert it? etc. As posted this in the other thread, but here ya go: There are 3 sets of pictures in your GFX subfolder: Foreign_Image01.pcx to Foreign_Image16 Message_RaceImage01.pcx to Message_RaceImage16.pcx Trade_Logo01.pcx to Trade_Logo16.pcx Images 01 - 05 are the main races. Images 06 - 09 are the "common" minor races (carnoids, alexians, etc.) Images 10 - 16 are the rest of the minor races (the ones in

I think ;)
"I tend to view that limiting starbases on a per sector basis penalizes the cultural domination path. I think players should get to build as many as they can in a sector but have a global limit based on *something*. I can say at this pint there is no way we'd arbitrarily limit the # of starbases in a given sector. It has to be a global limit or people lose out on too many different strategic paths." Fair enough. I favor limiting SB on a global scale and cast my vote in that dir
Sorry if this has been suggested, but here is an easy (and sensible) approach. When a planets military que is empty, then resources are allotted behind the scenes to "military spending" for the planet - just like in real life, troops are trained, barracks are built, ships are put out to sea, training exercises are conducted, military recruitment gets a boost to funding, etc. etc. This would translate into a bonus for the planet to resist invasion. Heck invasion is too easy now
I like the current morale system, but I do think it's too easy to impose large taxation... should taxes have a greater penalty (that is my gut feeling). I confess to not understanding the internal economy system very well, but on the surface it just seems like the higher you set taxes the more sever morale penalty you should take (like on a sliding scale, not static) Thoughts? :notsure:
RustyBlade - The ever present Mod pusher hehehe... Keep the faith bruther ;) I look forward to some cool mods from you! CapitalShip (Tim) - War Engine is awesome! I followed Boku from Circa 7000 through AoA and now finally TWE. I really like smaller development companies, because they are the underdogs of the gaming industry... and often they give excellent support to their loyal customers (cough cough nudge nudge ;)) Mike is a great guy and I have had some personal email with him in t
Why cap them? If you don't modify them then they won't affect your game... if somebody else wants to try playing at 200% PQ or -50% research why not let them??? :notsure:
Wow ClockWise your even more anal... errr analytical then I am ;) Seriously though I would like to see your rewrites when you get them done. :)
yes, open up GCtech.tech in your data subfolder of GalCiv and change tech #140 (stellarcartography) Drop it's cost to 1 and change the requirement from "NanoElectronics" to "" ;)
Some more of the mispellings are fixed in the new 1.02 patch (maybe all of them... not sure)
Thanks Cari! Let me state (again) what an AWESOME job you guys are doing with adding new fetures and taking customer suggestions into consideration! Now you said: "I don't think that we would let you change the starting ships for game balance reasons." I noticed that you stated in the the political party thread that you might be changing that code as well for game balance reasons... I don't mean to be rude (I don't! Really!), but what "game balance" are you worried
