Well, unfortunately the mod will break with every vanilla update, and as they are just way too constant at the moment, i am suspending the project for now; it's too much work to handle every week. In the future, when the game settles, i will definitely get into changing the techtree and implementing some other concepts i've in mind. I guess the bug when creating custom factions also works the other way around (when you create a faction while mod is active it kee

That's very good to know, when i tested this by creating a new faction i just copy-pasted an older custom faction i had but that seems to not work out... And are you enjoying the little changes the mod brings? Have you encounter any conflict with AI, for example?
This thread has way too much micro, someone fix this! xD
Yes, even if i set the custom faction definitions to start with a scout ship only, it just starts with the regular 3. Not a game-breaking problem indeed. Updated the release information to clarify this things. =]
Making AI think by itself without scripting it should be the way to go; it really opens up the possibilities, specially for modders that want to go deep into changing the vanilla definitions.
The whole game should be less micro intensive in my opnion.
Well, you can actually switch between the mod and the vanilla game in the options menu. It's not necessary to overwrite game's files since they go to the "Mods" folder.
Updated to Beta 5.2 with some minor changes.
I've made a mod that fixs this by reducing the ratio to 8:1. Here: https://forums.galciv3.com/463407/page/1/#3536992
I've made a mod that fixs this by changing Prolific to +2 bonus population. Here: https://forums.galciv3.com/463407/page/1/#3536992
Feedback is much appreciated.
A mod that makes expanding harder, has some misc balancing and improves the artstyle all around. Includes an optional custom splash screen. Features: - Each faction starts around a sun of the same color as the faction theme. - Refined UI color schemes. Includes all factions, neutral theme and techtree. - Homeworlds have full thematic sch
You are right, just way too radical changes for such a little thing. Even tho, i think that moving ships around the universe is exactly the point of a game like this. (not to the point of having to re-suply or refuel, that's done by pesky little ships paid with maintenance gold [e digicons]*_*[/e] ) But you have to keep in mind how many ships is actually possible to build and sustain or the micro really becomes a problem. Anyway, IMO Devs should not mind about anything but making
Approval/happyness in any game use to be an annoying problem as it was in earlier stages of GC3... You may say it can add depth but at the same time it just takes the focus out of strategy/fun and make you think about what's the "optimal pattern" to follow.
Yea i agree with "Director", ships should dock and stay sometime inside in order to upgrade, costing only manufacture. Then, to give a reason to have gold, i would say that emergency upgrades should happen anywhere in the map at a high gold cost. But "Ex Mudder" has a point... And the real factor is: Planet Government is broken. The triangle and the slider are overpowered and that forces you to deal with an annoying micro, especially at late game, at the same time it does not adds dep
Please, open a modding section; as soon as people starts to release mods it will become a mess and very hard to find the stuff or talk about the subject. This game has a strong modding potential that needs a home.
