What I can't believe is why someone would care about "scale". It's a game for crying out loud.
bonscott
Well, all that does is just download the patch. You need to actually install it. Or just use Stardock Central, click the update button next to Gal Civ 2 and it will do all the work of dowloading and installing for you.
In a fleet of 4 ships I'll have 3 high attack no defense ships and one ship with high defense and low attack. Combined it may give me a 20 attack and 5 defense lets say. Even that 5 defense against the right weapon really helps you survive, especially if you attack first.
Yep, fast transports with advanced troop modules. The core ship of this for me is my "Invader Cruiser" which can carry 3000 troops and goes 7 pc I think. If the problem is running out of population for troops then you need to build another farm or two to bump that population up. I usually have at least 2, sometimes 3 planets with the capcity for 20-30 billion because of several farms. Between times for transports being built they have usually grown back the 3000 troops I used in the last one
You should have Stardock Central installed. If not, do so. Then register the game in there. Then you simply just click on Galactic Civ 2 and if there is an update available you click the Update button next to it and it does all the work and will tell you when it's done.
Voltron!!
1. Steal underpants 2. ... 3. Make money. Works every time, Congrats!
Ok, I'm big on research. My slider is usually at at least 40% the entire game. Normal was nearly impossible to keep up with technology-wise. Challenging is just impossible. Not sure what you're talking about here (and I've seen other posts on it as well). I play on Challenging and I rarely run research above 30% and I'm right up there in tech
Remember that you can "focus" your planet to building something as well. This is done by going to the planet screen and up top are the 3 boxes for spending, click the icon in the upper right portion of the box and it will highlight the box and focus on that. So if my planet doesn't have any buildings to build then I'll focus on Manufacturing (if I'm building ships) or Research if it's a research planet. Then I'm hardly wasting anything in social production. It's a workaround anywa
I also trade with the others but I just dont understand why they are able to get so many skills reasearched so fast. Perplexing! Someone kind of mentioned it already but every race starts out with different techs (some the same, but many different). The AI's will do what we as the human should do and trade around all your techs as soon
Don't sweat it. I trade with the AI the first turn I meet each one. I get all the techs I can for all the techs they want. By the time I've met them all we're all about the same tech level and then I progress from there. I'll check every 3-4 turns to see if the AI's have any new techs for trade. I'll trade just about anything away, the only thing I don't is the defense technology for the offensive weapons I'm developing. Other then that it's all on the table. Doesn't make much sense to no
I have no issue with SD provide such info but what fun is it then? You will *learn* these things the more you play. Same goes for any other game. Heck, when I started playing Civ 4 I didn't know what was going on despite having played every previous version going back to 1. Took me about 2-3 games before I kinda figured everything out. Same here with GalCiv 2. Having played GalCiv 1 really only prepared me for the basic concepts of a space 4x game. Took me about 2 games and I th
I think if you're playing a Metaverse game then the ships would appear in the Metaverse subdirectory.
Obsolete a ship just removes it from the build list. If you want to remove a ship forever just click the "Delete" button in the shipyard. And coming back and being available in future games is a much needed feature so you don't have to keep redesigning ships over and over again. But as I've gone through each game I've refined what ships I want and thus delete some old designs and make new ones of current ones. For example I've refined a series of small hulled fighter ships I've cal
Ummmm, just run WinAmp, Windows Media Player or your other favorite music player and minimize it. Play the game with the music turned off. Problem solved!
My Documents\My Games\GalCiv 2 I believe is where galciv.ini is located. (or something similar, I don't have the game in front of me at work).
I noticed this to and I believe I have the answer: The other variable is the miniaturization tech level you have. So if the ship you designed before fills up 35 of 36 spots but at your current miniaturization level it would be 35 of 34 spots then you can't build the ship yet until you get enough miniaturization to be able to fit everything.
Bonus pack is for everyone. Think of it as the first patch. When you order from Stardock they will send you the game. But you will also be given a serial number with which you can download the game immediately after you install Stardock Central. What you will download will be the full game with the bonus pack and the Friday patch all integrated together. Everyone, no matter how they got their game, is on this version. The Collectors Edition simply has a couple extras: 1) Abo
I would like admittance into this empire. I like the show and the movie, it's a shame the creator ddidn't wantto continue it. Just FYI that the creator definately wants to continue it. It's simply that Fox cancelled the show and now he can't take the show to another network due to contract reasons. The movie actually turned a profit wi
4. I would like to see battles with space stations. When you spent hell to upgrade them, then I at least want to see when they are destroyed. Also, space stations are pretty weak regarding what goes into them when they are fully upgraded. A fleet which costs a lot less than the space station in total can easily eliminate it. Solution could be to give the space station firs
That was a nightmare in GalCiv 1. I much prefer it this way. There is a *ton* of techs and it's hard enough keeping things straight with the linear nature of the tech tree.
Click on your transport ship. Right click the planet in question to move it to the planet (as you did with your attack ships to take out defending ships). If the planet has the shield icon in the lower right then you didn't take out all the orbital defense ships yet so you'll need to do that first. FYI that there is a PDF of the manual installed with the game so you can print that if you'd like.
Trading seems very inconsistent in general. Although I don't have any way to confirm this, I suspect that the AIs trade military technologies among themselves. However, they refuse to trade military technology to me under any circumstances - even if I have them bent over backwards over their last star system. Even the race known as 'mercenaries' willing to sell anything to
Uhhhh, I already answered that above. Yes. Or just use Stardock Central to update and you don't need to know nor care aobut it, you'll get the updates with no fuss, no muss.
Got mine today as well (CE upgrade from TGN). I feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that mine might have actually been packed up by Frogboy or Cari Elf (or any number of other famous Stardockians). Hey Frogboy, can I stop by the office and get mine signed by you?
