No probs here. ATI 9800 Pro. Usually sits around 30 in just Windows. GalCiv2 it gets up around 45-48. Civ 4 pushes it up around 60 which is the highest I've ever seen it go.

So don't design ships. Just go with the Core ships and it'll be just like GalCiv 1. However, once you design a ship then it's saved for all future games. So my mega fast scout I designed in my first game will be waiting for me once I discovery the correct techs in all future games. Having said that, it's been posted elsewhere they are looking at being able to upgrade core ships as well has having a spot in the Library to be able to download other peoples ships so you won'
If you order directly from Stardock you'll get the collectors edition.
How about this as an idea Boogie: Have a checkbox in the ship builder screen when looking at Core ships. This checkbox would be "show all". It would then show all core ships including those you cannot build yet. The ones you cannot build yet could be "greyed out". If you hover over the ship it will list out what technologies you need to build it with the techs you have in green, the ones you need in red. OR, have small icons along the bottom row ala Civ 4 tech tree whic
The borders are cool but I would like to be able to see the numbers so I know if my influence is actually doing anything. That way you can see if your influence is going up or down in a sector and you'd be able to do something about it like build up a starbase or something.
There really isn't anything major that I see. I reported one minor bug where a window gets stuck behind another. Certainly no show stopper and I think you'll find a lot of the posts for bugs are just minor things. If there is something major or a show stopper you'll see Stardock post a sticky for it most likely.
No biggy. Only happened once and the GNN was annoying me anyway so I turned it off. Now if I can just remember to click on the icons that drop telling me when something has been completed I'll be all set.
I watched the tutorials on customizing a race and there is a reset to default type button in the upper right part of the screen which will wipe out any changes you have made (at least according to the tutorial).
In the options make sure you have full battles enabled and the proper checkboxes checked to see battles.
Also if your galaxy is tiny or small even the smallest range may include most if not all of the map.
Here are the steps that should reproduce it. GNN informed me a new ship being built. So I click the GoTo button. I then enter the ShipBuilder as I had also just gotten a new tech a couple turns earlier. So I design a ship, choose a name and hit save and the popup (to enter a description) doesn't appear. Argggg. So I try again and no poup. Try several times to no avail. So I finally exit and it takes me back to GNN news report. I close that and now I see that popup to
I've already realized the value of those class 5 worlds and specializing them for specific tasks. Couple example from my game last night: 1) Colonized a class 7 world in a system. Nothing special about it actually but I planned to build more influence related buildings on it since it was smack dab in the middle of the galaxy. Also in the system was a class 5 planet. I eventually colonized it as well and it had a manufacturing bonus tile. So I decide to try to make this a s
Will do as I normally do and play at the easiest level possible first game. Terran, Medium, Clusters, rest defaults.
Sweeeeeeeet. Final might be up before I get home. Whoohoooo!
Thanks for the link! That saves me emailing Kim for the upgrade. Just placed the order. Even though I don't really need the tech tree, I still want to support you guys more so I'll give ya another $20.
I guess my question is... if the game is in stores today... why did I bother to pre-order if I have to wait until the afternoon to have the game... when I can easily drive to my local gaming store and pick up a copy?... If, of course, the game ISN'T on the shelves today... then by all means disregard this ridiculous question... if not... umm... why did I pre-order? </T
Awesome on the pre-orders. Maybe you'll get lucky and hit a top 10 sales list somewhere and then the sky's the limit after that cause the hard core gamers will see it and scratch their head "what is this Galactic Civilizations thing?" and then check it out. My wife already knows I'm unavailable for the evening (other then to watch USA vs. Russia hocky). Whoohooooo!!!!!!
So say we all...
If you buy directly from Stardock you can download the game the minute it's released tomorrow. In fact, you can pre-download 99% of the game right now and only need to download a couple files tomorrow to make it active so you can play. If you orded the CD version from Stardock then that will be shipped to you separately. Or if you ordered the electronic version only through Stardock then using Stardock Central you can simply "archive" the game and burn that archive to a CD and t
Getting odd behavior on the login fields using Firefox on my Mac. When I type in the fields, the default "Enter Here" text doesn't go away... it just sits on top of whatever I type. Same here with Firefox on Windows XP. Latest patches for both.
Once they game is complete (i.e. Tuesday) simply make an archive of the game in SDC. Then burn the zip archive it creates to a CD or copy to external storage and simply install that on your computer with no net connection. I did that a lot with the original GalCiv. Creates both a backup (inlcuding saved games and mods) and allows you to install or update on another computer easily.
Yes. It'll even be in WalMart.
RE: Collectors Edition. It was already posted just a few posts up that if you have a TGN subscription you can get the Collector's Edition sent to you for $20 which includes shipping and handling. Look for the post by our leader Frogboy.
Downloaded perfect for me. No idea what server. I just did it the "dumb user" way and allowed SDC to update itself and then I just started downloading. This was around 8pm EST on the 14th. Average download seemed to be around 300+k. The slowest piece was actually the tutorials. Nice job!
I'll be downloading it about 120 miles west down I-94.
