Ok Ok, I slept it off. It's a great game, but I still think this is an issue. None of the other AI players were able to resist the altarians either. i got rid of buildings, reduced my fleet (not hard-i was at war), and still by the end had something like -8000bc. I've been able to use shorter recessions to my advantage, but it just went on and on. Long enough for the altarians to go from a little corner of the galaxy to complete military victory in a gigantic map. I hadn't even met them yet when

twice now. the random event recession lasted so long (at least 100-150 turns) that the altarians completely took over the entire gigantic map. everyone else had 0 production, including me. what B#^#&#. i can understand wanting to add a little spice to the game, but after days of playing (and I was doing well) to have it end like that SUCKS!!!!!! Why not have some random event "God's chosen" or something and just have the altarians win without making me press turn 150 times. as you can
