The vidoes can all be redone so they fit widescreen. It'd just take a modder some time to scale them. Those would be custom to widescreen so if you switched to normal res they'd be squashed. I wish I had the time, I'd do that for people, but my basic technique would be long and lengthy without a script...

Cari - thanks for your post. I was having this exact with a fresh install of all the games, and changing the prefs to match my screen res allowed my game to finally launch. Thanks! :)

PQ 27 Radioactive planet sitting in the star system next to the Korx homeworld. Jaw dropped, fingers trembled as they found the nearest planet and rush-bought a long range coloniser!! So did you get it, or did the enemy? Those rare times you find a planet that huge is pretty awesome. I had a 24 pop up once and sacrificed everything to get it. I didn't have the power to keep my grip on it and my empire and ended up having it fire-bombed by the opposition.

You know I e-mailed the maker several times about this and never got a response (unless my spam filter deleted it). Well, maybe? Actually maybe he did respond. Honestly I just can't remember - and I still have ~900 e-mails to sort through just from when I was sick, let alone the 2,200 stored in my inbox. Maybe I will do this. I have to update my own mods, and have to start on a few more. Since I have a fresh install of Dark Avatar I need to re-test everything I had before (a

Life has been crazy. Spring is always a fun time in Michigan as we can finally venture back outside and that big yellow blob in the sky finally re-appears, but this spring was kind of a stinker. Several hospital stays mucked up my system upgrade spring clean-up (inside and out!) A forced break from pc games isn't fun, but on the other hand... a sabbatical makes every moment back on my pc seem fresh and new. I'm a die-hard gamer and it's weird not having played a game in months (excep

Uly - I'll look at doing that for you. Don't bother, I've already done it. Though I'm not sure how to go about uploading it to the library. I'll go have a look. Actually, how about I email it to you and you can make an executable for it to install it, like you did with the mini-map version? Is there a private message thing on this board so can give me your email discretely? You can e-mail m

Sorry I missed your posts earlier. If you have Ascendancy, there are some utilites than can grab music (if the music files themsevelks are not pottable). Most music files can use any kind of sound converter to get them into mp3 format... and some CD's used Redbook audio (CD music is after track 1 where the data resides). Redbook audio is nice, because you just rip it like a normal CD to your HD. I use: Audio Converter and Wave Studio

Any new release would qualify as the "next patch"--I didn't mean to imply it would wait until 1.6. I expect the devs will put this fix up as soon as they're able since it's already been made, there just wasn't time to build and post a new version on SDC before the weekend I don't want to sound like an ass I really don't but if I was a small developer who depended on a fairly small group of hardcore players to keep the g

Uly - I'll look at doing that for you. Doommunky - First of all that filename you have is truncated. It should be No_Glare_Mini-map.zip 1. You extract the file contents using winzip or whatever unzip program you use. 2. Copy that NoGlareMinimap.exe and place it in your \\GalCiv2\ directory. Usually that's like C:\Program Files\ etc etc. My game directory is different because I install all my games to a second hard drive. So my path is D:\Games\GalCiv2 3. O

Hey guys. Stardock has always been very responsive to patching up big issues. They wouldn't let this go. But you've got to understand. People can't work 24 hours a day - 7 days a week. There are few (if any) developers who work so closely with the community. So give them a little bit of time. You wouldn't want them to get burned out, because then a game becomes a massive nasty burden. We could only dream about companies like EA giving half a crap about what we think -let alone wo

No it will not trip the cheat flag. If you're adding a customrace do NOT over-write current music. Just use race12.mp3 and up (since current uploaded custom races already use race10 and race11 ). Page 25 of my guide covers music: http://jeffpinard.com/music.htm And Page 26 cover custom races: http://jeffpinard.com/Making_Custom_Races.htm Everything you just asked is covered there.

This is not just a simple thing like recoloring text or changing fonts - or moving buttons around in Photoshop. If so, I would have done this a month ago. My original plan WAS to have the Metaverse button up top, but the start menu itself is Objectdesktop code - and since it's done per cell, layered, linked, and also appear to over-riding rulesets - well it's not so simple. So this is the best I could do not knowing more about DesktopX/Object Desktop. To alleviate the "hit the top
