I just had a game and a Minor race came in and wiped out 8 colonies (3 of them mine). I had my systems all perfectly balanced, and this just killed me. Can't remember their name, but if I see them again, I'm beating them senseless. Backstabbing sneaking rodents.

Would giving the Minor Races planets or Colony ships be useful in allowing them to become more powerful? Unless things have altered in the last build & i dont think they have, gifting the minors a colony ship does not work as te ship just sits there for countless turns before the minors AI can work out what to do with it. That said Frogboy did hint in the last chat that the minors AI might be made more 'aggressive'. Fingers c

I'm about to play my first game with a full deck of minors so I'll watch for that as well. BTW, how do you get your gamer stats/medals to show up at the bottom of your posts? If you look at my posts, you'll see mine are missing.

Hey guys. I created a new thread just for discussion of this kind of thing. It has simple formatting that can be used by each favorite setup - so if you dont mind hopping to that thread and posting your results... that'd be great (click the www link below) WWW Link Thanks!

OK, I'll start: 1. Galaxy Size: Medium 2. Habitable Planets: Rare 3. Number of Planets: Occasional 4. Number of Stars: Common 5. Star Density: Scattered 6. Total # of Opponents (minor & major races): 2 With only 2 opponents, this yielded a very nice selection of star systems. I had a few with 0, and a couple with 1, 2, 3, & 4. Slightly less than half of the star syste

I've been testing a whole lot of medium map games to try and find some that have the greatest variety of solar systems i.e. Stars with 1-4 planets instead of just five or zero. I'm sure there are others out there that have already refined their game setups for larger maps (and smaller) and I'd really love to get your feedback. After all, I can't do it myself, as there are over 56,250 variations to choose from (956,250 combinations if you consider that the # of races and minor races make a

play with 7-9 opponents and minors (the minors' homeworlds will provide a greater number of habitable planets, so if you play with 9 for example, you may want to set habitable planets to rare). Are you saying 8 Majors + 1 Minor for a total of 9? Or a full deck of Majors and Minors?

Boogie - What you did complete was really REALLY astounding. I'm mad at myself for not backing up my log files when I did a fresh install of DA yesterday, because some of the shorter missions generated AAR's that were simply amazing.

I am aching to announce what is in the expansion pack because I think people are going to be pretty happy about what we're doing. Most of the features are not going to be the kinds of things people would think of at first. It's great to hear a dev so excited about their own game plans. For some reason that seems to be a rarity. I read many d

Hehe, you people are so funny. I had no idea some of you were so attached to the races (I always make my own custom race). An interesting twist would be if both the human races were exterminated and it was a Galaxy of non Homo-Sapiens. If I had to vote - my vote would be for one of the Homo-Sapian races to be eliminated, and maybe the Iconians. Now I love the Iconians... but they've been the easiest push-overs in every game I've played.

...DARK... "muwhahahaha" seeps almost undiscernibly from my lips. "Rubs hands with malice" - many dark things to come... will there be any forces of the Righteousness to stand in there way? -cue ominous voice-, "or will it even matter..."

Pinard you can unlock the camera angle in the game menu Nope, that's the "snap back when rotating" camera option you're thinking of. I have that off and it doesn't allow you to fix your angle below 45* on the x-axis (see the attached screenshot). When you're zoomed in to view the game in all it's graphical splendor, you're maximum (actually

One thing I'd love to see for 1.2 is unlocking the camera angle. If you want to see your ships in full detail on the primary map, you zoom in - but your rotational view from the x axis is between 90* and 45* angles. This means a zoomed in view only allows a very small segment of the galaxy to be viewable at any one time. If the camera was unlocked so we could view at ANY angle (like a 0* angle from the x-axis), we could actually use a zoomed in view on the main map screen, and it'd have quit

I must admit, I enjoy losing as much as I do winning. I'm probably in the minority, but re-starting a game upmttenth times to get the best start feels hollow since every game ends up being the same... If you start out great, well there's not as much tension, and already "knowing" the outcome when you start is pretty pointless. Now if this were a game you'd play once or twice, then quit? Yes, I could see it then - but the thing that made MOO2 and GC so much fun was not knowing how a game

Also, anything wrong with static instead of dynamic allocation? If a person is nio technically inclined, they should have windows managing their pagefile and only modders would really be in need of multi-tasking benefist of dynamic mem use. And if a person is a modder, it seems they're be smart enough to adjust page file useage ior probably already have adequate RAM. Just

If you launch a colony ship or a transport this way, you will get an empty ship. Strangely enough, GC2 will not launch a colony ship or transport without at least 1 "passenger" any other way. You must have an issue with your copy of the game. I luanch all my transports and colony ships this way, an as long as I have enough people on the planet
