I didn't know how to do this so I found out: Press print screen on the upper right of ke\eyboard Click start Run type in mspaint and click okay In MSpaint click edit then paste and the screenshot comes up. Click file and save as to retain in a doc file

a. Why can the AI complain about one of my influnce starbases located in their sector, but i cant complin about the influence starbase that they build in my sector? Good point, I suppose the closest thing you can do to possibly avoid war and still remove the threat is demand that they give you the starbase and maybe even pay them something.<br/
You can keep track of the majors by checking the treaties tab on the diplomacy screen.
The radical solution (a bit evil I guess) is to destroy some of your farm and let them starve until you have the population level you want That's better than the solution in GC1 of loading a colony ship with billions and parking it on the edge of the map forever. (I never had
Noob question - why not build farms on food bonus squares? (too high of a pop cap and resulting problems?) It's not a problem if you don't mind dealing with it. I just prefer to have more control on population. If you build on a bonus square you might have some big moral problems or not. Once you have VR center you will be able to control moral
The pace of the game (especially at higher difficulty ratijngs) make it hard to go with a balanced approach early on. Better to research one attack and one or two defenses. Randomness is hard to figure sometimes so don't take this as a certainty but in my experience the AI has a thing for beam weapons and defense. I always go for guns and shields and I haven't guessed wrong yet. However, I have yet to get a precursor Ranger and I see some are getting 3-4 per game so it cou
Population creates tax income and may speed up improvement production but a factory on a 5billion pop planet produces as much as a factory on a 30billion planet. Population is kind of a bugaboo and the best you can say of it is that it helps fight off invasion.
don't forget you can research better farms to increase output from the original farm. More than 2 farms on a planets sounds like trouble to me.
I think Dearmad is pretty much on point. The AI will rely on the graphs in the absence of other info. I think the only factor taken into consideration is number of ships, with hull size perhaps factored in to some extent. I know the AI does espionage but I am not sure how they use it beyond stealing tech. The AI will continue happily building ships that have no chance until they are shown up in battle. In the situation described above you could finish them off before they could react.
On beginner you should have no money problems. Practice on cakewalk for a game or two if you do. Here are my tips for start up on beginner; First, increase the spending to 100% and increase taxes to the point that your approval is about 60%. Increase military spending to 60%. This should get you a colony ship from your home world in about 7 turns. On your home world build or buy factories first followed by Market Center, Labs and entertainment. Do not
In the trade screen believe that when you are getting a more advance tech for what you offer the tech name is in a box
In all the games I have played i have never gotten a ranger but I did notice that in the new release i have gotten goddie hut money for the first time up to a 1000bc. I never got money in GCI
I have read that some are upset over the status of the collector edition in spite of the assurances that the goodies will be available. So far I have the first time to be disappointed in product or support. They have always delivered. In my own case I spent a few bucks a couple of years ago and in return I got to follow the progress of a game from concept to completion. I will admit that there were a few times that I wondered if the game would ever make it to release but it did and I
What is this and how does it work.
Inability to acquire info on minors is a pet peeve of mine. There are several situations where you are told that espionage against a minor is needed, yet no ability to do so is provided. IMO the minor play a great enough part that we should be able to spy on them. Maybe all with one slider. Also, when you have reached advanced level the espionage spending can be stopped accordiing to the game and according to my experience of getting stolen techs after terminating the expense
The idea of buying the first factory is pretty good and I might try doing that. The scout would also be a good choice in a big map game. I have been adjusting the sliders where I get my first Earth colony ship in 7 weeks and soon after that they are coming every 5 weeks. That has been sufficient to dominate a tiny or small map on normal difficulty without rush buying anything early on. On a small or tiny map Earth usually builds all colony ships. The other planets start on constructo
Wow! 26.6 is a lot of population. Imagine a planet with 27 billion inhabitants. The game can be played well with a much lower population. Don't build so many farms and don't use food bonus squares, at least until you have VR centers. Max population should not be a goal. Population can boost your economy but it is a two edged sword. I leave all planets under 10 PQ at 5billion max population and usually don't increase over 10billion anywhere until late in the game.
You can put defenses on them but I have never felt a need to do so
IMO one colony pod is sufficient and the additional speed or range is worth leaving 250M colonist at home. Scouts are good in big map games but a usuall a waste in small map games and definitely a waste on a tiny map. It is a flaw in the AI (at least at normal) that they will build numerous scouts in a tiny map game when they should be building colony ships
I enjoy designing the ships and don't find it that difficult but it can take some time. If I am in a hurry to get back to the game I just plop some engines and modules in the basic hull. The are nothing fancy but they don't look indecent.
When you click on the planet you see the planet influence in the control section below. There is a number in parenthesis next to it. When that number is greater than one it means that the other culture influence is greater than the home planet. When that number is over 4 it will eventually flip. You can always check your own planets but to see this info on enemy planets you need some espionage. Oh yeah to make them flip faster build influence starbase nearby
What is the command for a screenshot and where are they filed? Also what is the option to run in a window. I figured it was uncheck full screen but when I do that the task bar does not respond to right click commands to minimize, restore etc
I give it a 9.5 on a 10 scale. The game play is excellent and the AI is great. On a planet I acquired from the Drengi they had built all the right improvements and used the bonus squares correctly. Playing at normal, the only obvious mistake the AI made was building too many scouts for a tiny map. There are a few hiccups that will probably be patched soon but they don't disrupt the game play and the only one I even recall is that the first impulse engine seems to be a mas
Won the first one with a cultural victory quite easily on beginner level. In fact it may be easier than the beta at beginner. I will definitely move ahead to normal
Hmmm. that shouldn't happen. The first thing I would try is closing and reopening Stardock. If that doesn't work reboot. If that doesn't work it's a problem and you might have to reload stardock
