So when you colonize planets, you occassionally get a random event - and you must choose between beeing GOOD, NEUTRAL or EVIL. This is a cool idea but I have to question wheter or not this really works in galaxies smaller than "large" The humas start out as neutral (50 points) In all my games played at medium sized galaxy, I have noted that I always seem to get +1 point when choosing good, zero points when choosing neutral and -10 points when choosing evil.
But then on the other hand, If you are not allowed to BUILD more than one capital of any kind for whatever reason, why are you allowed to MANAGE several capitals? So what exactly is it then that prevents your workers from BUILDING another capital rather than conquering one? Capitals are EXTREAMLY powerful in that you can finnish of any kind of activity VERY quickly (including trade goods) Thus, A slight technologial advantage combined with, say, multiple manufacturing capitals and that
I see, Well, I always play only at medium sized galaxies. (I hate the micromanagement of units on large maps) Maybe that explanis it.
I keep on reading about negative, posetive and "unbalancing" events. The problem is that I have been playing the game for 5 days almost nonstop ;) but other than the events you get when colonizing planets, no random events have ever occured. Just what ARE theese events everyone is talking about? When do they happen? Do I have to enable them somehow? I play at Intelligence level.
I think the story was that the minimum tested sucessfully was a PII 300 as long as not playing on HUGE galaxy.
There are SO many exploits with minor races, I personally would like them removed from the game altogheter. In my opionion minor races are just another sad example of a concept that does not work right. For instance, I always use 100% of tax-income towards production. My treasury is negative, of crouse, but if I need money for upkeep cost or in order to buy something, the minor civs are always "more than happy" to provide me the money needed. -Elkku
As far as I have understood, then A.I also cheats in that it get HUGE bonuses to their initials stats. (E.G morale, defense, offense, hitpoints etc) In my current game the Torians set to intteligent, had all skills at almost +50%!! They had SO MUCH bonuses there was absolutely no way they could have researched or accuired those any other way because it was in the early stages of the game. Of course, they still did very poorly but the A.I in Galciv is not THAT much better than in other TBS games.
Altarians was set to bright while the Drengings was set to intelligent. -Elkku
In my current game the Altarians suddenly declared war with me. At that point I did not have any military at all and thought the game was over...but then instead of invading or anything, the Altarians just kept on sending those Constructors and freighters along our borders witch I wiped out with a few corvettes. They also tried to send a few lonely transporters (whitout any military escort) straight through my territory toward some unknown destination. Turn after turn this ju
