I also remember those days trying to contain my excitement as I pored through the Ultima IV and Ultima V manuals. They were almost as fun as the game itself! Things have changed much since those days, and people expect games to 1) introduce new concepts at a reasonably digestible pace - not all at once (campaign) 2) clarify anything complex as close to the context as possible. As such, I totally agree with the idea of nested tooltips. For a game like GalCiv, with

It will always come down to humanoid like races. Maybe a couple more eyes or legs or arms, but not necessary at all. ok, but there were some times when i do wish i had third arm or so. i've heard others say the same, but evolution hasn't lent a hand in that direction yet.
ooh! make a pure-evil looking race! Oh come on, you don't think the Drengin look purely evil enough??
I was thinking about this too, and I was thinking that I would love to see this as a research option. Perhaps, on the Xeno Research path after Stellar Cartography, probably at the same level of Sensors, but on a different branch. Researching that would allow you to see the actual planetary map of any unowned planet when double clicking on it from the main galaxy map (which means you'd have to uncover the planet from the fog of war, first). There could even be a logical progression to THIS, w
No kidding. Where is all the supposed VR they used to rave about? And we need the flying cars already! And we need them to run on no less than 80 miles per gallon too, please.
I agree to nix the 3D map idea... it makes visualizing things much more difficult, because you MUST rotate the whole thing on all axes to get a better look at it. It's just not necessary. If it helps at all, pretend that it, like all maps on Earth, IS a 2D representation of a 3D universe, and your expert tactical engineers have designed it this way to simplify your grasp of the strategic situation, making it easier to see the important stuff.
Nerf the Yor The Yor are balanced IMHO. Heck, Why dont you just whine about the Altarians huge chances of finding Ranger ships every 60 turns? <
Nerf the Yor! And while you're at it, nerf Terror Stars! And while you're at that, nerf my shadow priest! He's been having too much fun ganking squirrels on Vizzard III.
But isn't the amount they'll agree to influenced by the size of their current bank account as well? This would vary the maximum amount they would agree to greatly, and may make that gauge deceiving.
A very valid tactic. This is the only way I could beat the dread lords on the Apocolypse campaign mission
Or... sometimes you have to accept defeat. The DL are too powerful. Give it your best shot, and if they beat you, accept it and relax for a while on the alternate missions route.
I have five (though I bet only one is active) serials for GalCiv 2, because I bought it via download and every time I ask for my serials to be sent to me from Stardock central, I get a different one. But none of them work to download either this patch or the CE content. They work to register the game through Stardock Central, but not through /www.galciv2.com/registration.aspx
Same problem. ATI x800 GTO
Just ... one ... more... shameless bump. Would like to know someone has considered this a problem. Unless anyone can direct me to a thread that shows Stardock is aware of this one and fixing it?
Well I hope so. Unfortunately, I have two seperate Serials for the game (bought download + CD direct from StarDock and got one right away, then was emailed a different one) and neither of them work on the download page that is linked from that post. : \
Eh... that's hard to believe. People pay more for the CE stuff, and it's not just a poster that made their decision. While I would LOVE to have the CE hulls and in game goodies, I doubt that they're just going to give it to everyone, and there's nothing on this site that indicates as such.
Yes, please consider at least allowing upgrading from a stack/fleet. This is a very silly reason to have to waste valuable movement and leave a fleet vulnerable for a turn.
I agree... I can't find a way to upgrade a ship other than ungroup it and move it to a parsec by itself so I can click the little upgrade button in the control panel. I can't find any hotkeys to work around this either. When you have a fleet, or even just a stack of 5 ships and you have to take a turn to move them each to their own parsec, leave them there while they upgrade for a turn, and then move them back, not only is it annoying, but it wastes movement unecessarily and leaves them dange
