I'm relatively new to all this and have learned a lot from this forum about how to play a very well thought-out and supported game. My two cents: - It appears that for early levels there appears to be an offensive ship with a defensive counterpart (eg, star fighter/corvette v. defender). - You would think that cost would be equitable and that the given defender could take out one attacker in space while guarding something. This would be at base attack/defense values with

Minefields are good but you would need to set waypoints are something to the equivilant - even for freighters. Mine upgrades? Brad, would you pick thru the list and maybe put some of what you think is viable up for discussion?
1) A patrol function for ships via waypoints. This may have already been mentioned. Also combined with this has to be the autoattack funtion modded? I'm not sure how auto attack works but ships should NOT attack anything out of sensor range. For example I would want a Frigate patroling trading lanes attacking defensively modded star bases. 2) Rights of passage to cross controlled sectors (ala CivIII). Else a possible declaration of war (not mandantory). You (and AI) would have t
I like the idea of minimum damage per attack (AOK does this.) But I LIKE the definitive difference between the power of the units. It becomes a stategy of how many do you make of each and when. The problem I had with Civ III was obsolete units could still be somewhat effective when there was no logical reason for them to be so. So, if you warrior tendancies, do you chose the Military party for the 50pt/ hp advantage?
"Torian AI constructor madness addressed" I thought tht was kinda kool. Went thru a group with a scout and it was like minnows swarming around a worm. ;)
I agree with Statement #1 with one caveat - no multipliers. Offensive capabilities plus defensive capabilities plus hit points are factors I look for before an engagement. But the comments about the deterent effect of the missiles are valid. Why spend the bucks and T&E if it doesn't count? I'm thinking missiles are good to take out heavily defensed SBs.
