I didn't want it to eat at you.

I don't know what you're talking about on here. Those aren't my ships.
I am very excited about Galciv 3! I was very pleased to hear the game will be 64-bit and using DX10. I think the hardest part will be waiting for the game to come out since it is probably 1 - 2 years away still. Recently I read an article about project managers protecting their programmers from the user community by isolating them. I wish I could find it again to share because it was very illuminating. User co
I'm curious to know if and how they're doing sectors, quadrants, etc. If the boundries will bisect hexes or whatever.
Okay, I'll admit, that one did kinda stand out for me. I enjoy the light hearted moments. The game is considered a "serious" 4x game that can still have fun with itself. To my noodly mind that means the game is just that good.
So we'll need to be drinking to get some of the humor? Hey, The Galactic Civilizations Shots Game™!
Well in the near-term we're going to keep with Elemental: Fallen Enchantress -Legendary Heroes The sales remain really strong and the DLC is good. But yea, I have no idea what a sequel would be called. We have a team working on a new fantasy game that is in the Elemental universe but it's a very different game.
Is it for phones? C'mon, you can tell us...
Well, you can have the nomad civilization be able to enter populated territories and be able to extract percentages of materials from it (civilian/corp trade and such) and resultantly expand the host civ's economy or some such. Allow the nomads to mooch off the host civ and in return the host civ will receive a bonus somewhere. The nomad civ will start off having to build "mining" bases or some-such. As they move on they either completely disassemble them for the materials
Could you imagine the possible headaches that would result if they did tell us everything? The combat threads are already getting fairly brutal.
Give her consulting credits? :P I remember when my son was born. I actually cut work for a week without realizing it. Wife commented that she was happy I was able to get the last three days off. Thank god I know the owner and she has a sense o' humor. "So make sure she doesn't forget 'bout Stardock!" , I guess is the selfish message I'm tryin' to put across.
I am loving this thread. First off, as the designer, this is perhaps my biggest challenge. Keeping the soul of Galactic Civilizations II, but making it better sexier, and feel new. I can't really roll out a big list of what has changed, and what has stayed the same… Yet. But I will let you know that keeping GalCiv, GalCiv, so to speak is my number one priority. This is not to say we won't have lots of new thin

Real-time control of each single ship may be a bit much. Yet that would make the combat turns faster than making it turn-based. Thank ya! Please don't think I'm bein' pissy. Jars me outta the story and I want everyone to read 'em in euphoric wonder. :P
Probably the biggest difference between those games and GalCiv III is that it's the GalCiv II team (except for Cari who is on maternity leave) making GalCiv III except with more developers and artists added on. Paul (Mormegil) was a core person on the GalCiv games. And it's me back doing the AI and Jesse back doing the ship battles and designer, and so on.
Then I do be believin' that I'm happy as a
I didn't like Civ5. Civ4 was my favorite Civ game. I was so looking forward to Civ5, and when I played it it was the biggest letdown. They just dumbed down the game so much. The games I played came down to catapult/artillery spam. I didn't like how the cities worked nor the buildings. The tech tree wasn't nearly as interesting. It was basically a PC version of the XBox 360 Civ Revolutions wit

Alterian Prophecy - "...and DNA tests showed that they were the essentially the same species..." Remove the first "the" so it reads, "...and DNA tests showed that they were essentially the same species..."
I never even bothered with sensors. I just researched to get to Eyes.
I haven't seen this discussed already. Will there be an editor to create and trade events? I remember creating events for galciv1 when I downloaded a fan-made event editor. My friends and I took great delight in it. Granted, at tiimes we took some dark turns 'cause maliciousness is fun. We also enjoyed downloadin' 'em from the galciv site. I don't recall it bing that easy for galciv2.
So the problem is you don't want any competition. :P
From a sales standpoint I'd say to be playful with the name. What "damage" there may be has already been done. Be all "aw shucks" with a goofy grin while bringing up the name and just keep throwing out those DLC's and continuing the awesomeness. I'd be incredibly surprised if us consumers cared even half as much 'bout the name. We're simply greedy and want more. Has there ever even been any confusion with the name? Like has someone not understood what was b

I liked 'em all. Right now the only thing I can think to add would be having those same single/empire-centric random events hit the other empires as much as mine. To my mind, it would make the single-player games feel more "alive".
The only mega event that should happen at such a point is a mass capitulation by the rest of the empires.
That would save a bunch o' time. There's a huge number of games I've ended "early" simply because I wasn't in the mood to waste so much time with what is a foregone conclusion.
