NewfyScotian, thanks for all your excellent advice and links. It has been a long time since I played Galciv. It appears there are many new things I need to discover and learn about. :d

I wanted to mention I submitted a game or two to the Metaverse and they did not make it recently. None of them had Mods installed. Kind of surprised me when I did not get a notice that it worked. My next game has a Mod installed I will let you know how it went. Thanks. :) Good luck CariElf with your programming efforts you are one of the best IMHO. I been playing games since about 1980! NewfyScotian, I wondered about that. I agree real silly to me as well. I am hoping that some of these stupid things the AI does now in the game will be cleaned up with Galciv II. Btw You happen to know a guy by the online name of Kingpin? He is from Canada.. Just curious.. He is not playing Galciv though just Civ3. Probably a silly question I guess. :p
Peace Phoenix, I have never been able to steal techs. I only have seen the minors do it? I usually spy until I can see all their stats and stop. I assume you must keep it going longer? Thanks for the tips I am missing a large part of the strategy of the game. ;)
I will add my two cents to this thread. I have said this before in other threads. I personally feel that the Metaverse should be reset to allow all the new players a chance to be a top player. I have heard from many people who just got the game who do not see any reason to submit games. The top players are so far in the lead it would be impossible to take them out. :) Probably no one else agrees with me but this is how I view it. Thanks Peace Phoenix, I did not know the specifics he is not playing much anymore due to the metaverse issues. He did not intentionally try to rig his scores though. This is what he said Stardock told him.
Cool I did not know this myself. I wish you could adjust skill level in Campaign mode. Maybe this would be good for an expansion idea.
Hey Frogboy, how did I miss the Operative's Kit? I love the game I find it to be fairly accurate and a lot of fun to play. Though I dislike loosing to Condi Rice as John Kerry. I am crossing my fingers you do make a sequel or expansion for this cool game. I love politics myself. I would also like to see you guys think about working on a Stock market
LOL Okay thanks Moser the Alchemist. All this time I have been playing and I did not know this. I Appreciate it maybe it will help improve my scores. :D
Someone told me in a thread that you could adjust propagada slider to improve morale or something like that. I never did find such a slider in the game. He must have made a typo or just making comments that were not true. I will allow you to answer the messages. Your better at it then I am. I try to help when I can though. ;)
Hmmm Never tried that one before.. The method I used with the 100% spending I learned from one of the top players a long time ago. The additional tips your giving me will help a lot. I play ONLY on gigantic quadrant maps. I like them better, though many good players have told me that playing smaller maps will yield better scores. Thanks again.. Now I have to look up your empire.. You must be one of the top players yourself with the tips and message I keep reading. :HOT:
Great tips.. I play at normal, tried a few games higher level but have not figured out how to win. It makes sense what your saying. Thanks.
Is it ever really wise to colonize those less then 15 PQ? Just curious what your opinion is? I sometimes will grab a 14 and buy the improvements to make it a 15 or 16 and trade it for the minor who stole all the AI techs that sometimes happens. Chessy exploit I know, but I have not been submitting to the metaverse it no longer will work for me. :)
Oh, well Mayito7777 had his name removed from the metaverse for the same reasons. Sorry I assumed it was the same person. :) I do not know where the thread is anyways. Thanks for correcting me ;)
Nope, I did not do anything to them. This kept going on for about 10 turns, once I gave them the orange world with a 17 PQ (was 14) they no longer attacked me. They just kept about 25 ships next to the last world they attacked. :) Now I think maybe I found an oddball bug. :notsure:
Thanks guys all great tips some I never heard of.. It was not my thread but thanks anyways. LOL
Great Tips Newfy.. :p
I did not know about that.. Thanks Hegetaga nice tip!!! :D
You can add the other forums through SDC. I have all of the forums accessible through my SDC and my normal browser. Click on the Stardock link at the top of the page. You should be able to follow the links there to find what you need. ;) NeoTech Gaming Network http://www.neotechgaming.com a sci-fi themed galciv fansite.
Another place to check is NeoTech Gaming Network http://www.neotechgaming.com a few good players and Mod designers hang out there. These forums have a lot of good players who offer help improving your game. One of the reasons I personally love the game. Stardock is the best gaming company there is hands down. :D I have to brag up Stardock they rock! :d
I have a game now that I bribed a minor race to attack then drengin. I allowed them to soften up the Drengin, then I went in for the kill. I took over most of the Drengin planets, the Minor race started attacking me for no reason. I would make peace without a problem, but turn after turn he kept attacking. Finally, I gave them a 14 planet that I had converted to 16 (cheesy exploit I used by trading the 14 planet for techs with another minor after I made the PQ a 16) The minor then stopped attack
Part of the game pirating protection is how the updates are done. There is no way for anyone to send you such and update, and people like myself would refuse anyways. I support Stardock fully and would never do anything to infringe their copy protection methods. Stardock is one of the best companies out there for gaming. :notsure: There should not be any difficulty downloading patches if you have access to them. A subscription to totalgaming.net you can get beta releases. In downloads
You might want to consider picking the points at the start that leans toward economics, and maybe one toward trade routes. All of my games go along much better with a 30+ on Economics. Once you do max you your trade routes, go for the techs that boost trade more. :) NeoTech Gaming Network http://www.neotechgaming.com Galciv fansite sci-fi themed. :d
I know who he is.. Mayito7777 he is on my staff at NeoTech Gaming Network website. http://www.neotechgaming.com He did not cheat at all, he had made his own Mods that actually boosted his score. He would never cheat, unless they consider Mods cheating? I always thought the Metaverse would reject a submission if it determined you were using illegal Mods? :notsure:
Diplomats are a great empire to join with excellent players to help out any Newbie. :) Why not advertise your Empire at NeoTech Gaming Network?
