Yeah, directx9 is a problem. :) I can't use the map editor under WineX then with directx9. (IE I'm playing GalCiv/AP on Linux using the WineX emulator. It handles most games pretty well and can handle directx8 but so far, it doesn't do directx9 (AFAIK) well or at all.) Any chance of doing it with DX8? :) P.S. I'm gonna go see if I actually need to install DX9 though for WineX. That may be why it don't want to work. P.P.S GalCiv works PERFECTLY under WineX

WineX from Transgaming.com works PERFECTLY with GalCiv!!!! The only "problem" is that at the moment, since WineX doesn't work well with IE 6, that means that StarDock Central won't run. So, I use VMWare to update via SDC and then copy all of the files over to my linux partitions where I have GalCiv installed. I can't say enough good about A) GalCiv and B) WineX. I am SOOO HAPPY that I can finally TRUELY play GalCiv properly in Linux now and not via VMWare.

Ummm Erik, you realize don't you that for that extra $30, you get a lot more than just galciv! You get ALL of their current AND upcoming games. QED if GC 2 were to be released say this time next year, you'd still get it from your Dregin.net subscription.

Has anyone been able to have a cultural victory happen in 1.0.4.59? I've got a small/tight/intelligent game going where all the sectors are blue and all that's left is the Dregin's home planet. EVERYTHING else has switched over to me. BUT the culture victory keeps saying 12 months left. I've already gone about 5 years and still no win. :D

NOT a problem at all HawaiiFive-O. We ALL make mistakes like that... (Yes, fellow programmer :D)

I don't play GC for the metaverse. I could give a damn less if it existed. Yes, I DO use a cheat political party to play. Yes, so does the computer. :) Will I submit my games to the Metaverse? No. Why? Cause it's not fair to everyone else. Will there be idiots who do? Yes. Every online community has their cheaters/griefers/racists/etc. This is the main reason I play GC because it's single player and I don't have to deal with all the idiots out there.

heheh Boogie.. that's EVIL... but I LIKE it.. I will say that I believe I noticed that the AI had noted the party was available and was using it cause I got a message once that said that the AI's controlling party "Cheat" (My name for it :D) had lost power.

You wanna bet clockwise! Take a look at my score... guess what... THAT game was a modded party! Oh and take a look at what Cari says: I ask: 1) Stardock, do you folks want that list public? (You can very EASILY cheat using a new political party!) Cari says: 1)Um, no. The other devs and I are going to have to modify the political party code to allow only reasonable modding. Political parties aren't quite the same as ships and techs, which the AI can make
