Tap..TapTap.. Is this thing on? Yes? Oh.. Ahem. Hello everyone. I'm President Alverin Meritol. I just wanted to go on record saying that I really enjoy being in RB, and I enjoy the challenge proposed by the rules that are set down. I have never found it to be very enjoyable to take advantage of the blind spots of the simpler life forms in this universe (no offense to the Torians intended.) I find it much more exciting to have them bow before - ahem - I mean follow my enlightened

I just click on the button once, then wait up to 5 minutes - walk away, get a pop, or just stretch my legs. Eventually I'll get the Test:1 Error:0 message. Once when I got the message my score still wasn't posted. I just loaded up the End Game Save and re-submitted on the next day and it went through. I don't know if that helps you any - I'm sure you have heard tons of suggestions on how to fix it, but that works for me.

Good point about the value lost, especially when there are multiple planets in the same system. (I assume that the damage would affect all of the planets, as the population from all of the planets helps defend.) However, if you already have their defenses destroyed and you have several troop transports on the way, why not capture the system and use the buildings for yourself? Even if you can not hold it for long you should be able to get some use from it. (I'm not sure if there is a way to s

The problem with the empty transport problem is that it is a major crunch on the economy of the group sending them - remember that EACH of these invasion attempts costs 500BC or more! That really adds up. It would probably damage the civilization that does it more than it would damage the target civilization.

Good. I'm glad someone else reported it. I wasn't entirely sure it was a bug, as I could see the other side of the coin, and if I was able to defend my planet I wouldn't like the extra damage (although it certainly would have been deserved if I let someone invade it!) :) I thought about looking through the bug list, but searching through 600+ messages by hand was a little intimidating to me. Hopefully searching though posts in the forums will be added so I don't do this again! :)

I haven't tried this with 1.03A, but I did have it happen with a 1.02 game. I was invading a heavily defended system, so I used Mass Drivers to help even up the odds. I still lost the battle, but I killed billions. The potential bug is that there was no planetary damage done. No building destroyed, nothing. I easily mopped it up with my next invasion, and had no lasting damage from what I did. So, the question is - was it a bug, or were they able to sacrifice enough people to keep my mass

What several people seem to have forgotten is that the Metaverse IS NOT about the scores - at least from the developers standpoint! The scores are the carrots to get people to submit their games, which is why the developers do it. They want people to submit their games so they can use them to improve the AI. In this regards, they want to get rid of twinky scores, because that doesn't help them at all. The computers main strategy is not to back you into a corner, and then gather as much popul

I personally believe that IF they are allowed to transcend to a higher plane, then they are removed from the game and your final score is lower - it shouldn't wipe you out or end the game for you. They have just left the galaxy - that doesn't mean that they destroyed the entire galaxy on the way out. The only reason that it is a winning condition for the human player is that he doesn't care what happens in the galaxy any more - he is already in a happier place! :)

That didn't necessarily seem to be the case for me. Realize that if you wait for a while before you get around to researching a tech your max research has gone up considerably due to planetary improvements and population. Therefore techs that used to take 12 turns would then take considerably less. Still, it could be tested by finding a tech that you want to research and finding out how long it would take, then IMMEDIATELY BEFORE research a minor tech that you looked over (Stellar Cartography

RE: #202 by Veteran Vorlin Varelse I've tried opening and closing the research screen several times to make sure that I have the correct update - that did not help the problem any. I've heard that as well, but I appreciate you mentioning it just in case I didn't know it. The reason that your economy changes (and the reason why I micromanage my tech) is that only 1/2 of your research advantage is free - the other 1/2 you pay for out of your pockets. This can be rather expensi

Thanks for the answers guys. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. I'll try just upping it 1% instead of 3-4% and see if that works. Interesting theories as to what is causing the problem too. Hopefully it will get resolved. If not, at least I have a work-around now! :)

Thanks for the response Vorlin. I do have trade enhancing starbases, but this happens regularly enough that I would have a hard time believing that my traders exited out of the sector every time this came up. Do you adjust your research spending down to the minimum that would research a tech? I often do, as it really helps my economy (I have a high research bonus, 1/2 of which I have to pay for), and it allows me to boost my military and social building for a turn. Best thing I can think of

I'm having trouble with research. Several times in my last game I was told that I would get a tech on the next turn (not one turn remaining - next turn) and I didn't receive the tech. One time that it happened I turned my tech down to 2% after not receiving it, and I was still told that I would receive the tech, but when I hit the button I didn't get it that turn either. The only way I can reliably get a tech when I'm told I will get it is to intentionally spend 3-5% extra on research than I'm t

Is there an updated estimated time of arrival for the demo? I heard about this game about 1 week ago, and I've been eagerly awaiting the demo. It is now mid-April, so I was hoping that it would be close! :) I know that patches often take priority though, so I thought I would ask.
