I really would like to join up for the good team - the problem is that I can only play Fridays - Mondays. Having 3 days in a row where you can't play just won't work for these types of games. My schedule is still a little too hectic. I'll be sooo glad when summer finally gets here - that looks to be the only time my schedule is going to ease up. Sigh.

Well, I just rushed through a game with only the populists pick, no diplomatic bonus. I finished it first as a Tech victory, as I hadn't done that before. I verified what everyone has said about the crappy score, went back three turns, set up 2 alliances for virtually nothing and I was done. I'm going to give it another shot with no diplomatic picks at all - including the populists. I think the all evil thing is what was killing me. Still, there is only one way to find out! :) Thanks for t
DOH! Double post. Sorry! [Message Edited]
Well guys, I'm embarrassed to say that I am stuck. I decided to try a max difficulty crippling game, with all of the AI's evil and me choosing mostly good picks, and with absolutely no diplomacy picks - I got my clock cleaned twice pretty handily. I had already beaten all evil AI's in crippling, but it doesn't appear that I can do it without any diplomatic picks. I'm currently playing a crippling with normal alignments and only the populists, no other diplomatic picks, and it appears to be go
Well, I finally finished a game that I started a month ago! Ouch! I hate my schedule right now. Still, it should be easing up sometime in January. Sirian, quick question for you. You said on the other forum that UFO Aftermath was good, but you didn't give much feedback on the later stages of the game. Did it stay good? Did you finish your hardcore game? Did you finish the game at all? I'm looking at maybe getting it as an after Christmas present for when I get some free time (I'
Congratulations Jaxom!
Welcome to the family frostblade!
Well, I finally managed to finish up a game that I started 3 weeks ago! :) Unfortunately I can't guarantee much playing time until the middle of January - work is really killing me right now. I'm still going to play when I can, and I have already ordered the expansion. I'm really looking forward to that!
Welcome to the group S1mone! Glad to have you with us. I don't really have time to post a big review of Warlords IV like I originally said I would (work is keeping me very busy right now.) I would give it a 3 out of 5, with a potential for a 4 out of 5 if they fix some of the balancing in patch number 2, which they said they would. Sorry I can't write more. Maybe I'll have time later.
Well, I borrowed a copy of Warlords IV from a friend to see if I want to buy it or not, so I'm not going to finish my game this weekend after all. I'm still up in the air about buying it or not - I'll let people know what I think about it soon. Don't worry - I'll be playing more GalCiv soon, I just want to try this game out and get it back to my friend Monday. See you tomorrow! :)
Just wanted to let people know that just because Sirian is taking a break from the game that doesn't mean that we aren't still active. We had a game posted last night, and I'm going to finish another up tonight or tomorrow morning. If you are interested in joining us let us know and we'll get you in.
Let me know what you think about UFO Sirian - I have really been considering getting the game. Also, since you seem to like TBS a lot - Warlords 4 is out. I haven't tried it either, but I thought you might want to know.
I know something you can strive for Amidala - and it isn't a difficult goal - 100 games! :) You are at 99 right now. I can understand taking a break though - I took a break for several months, and that was after only 1/2 a dozen games (with only one submitted to the metaverse - I was having trouble getting them through then.) Anyways, enjoy your vacation, and it is good to hear from you again.
Wow. The message boards have really been flaming lately. I'm just glad we have missed most of it here. Of course we are pretty young and small and low on the totem pole - give us 6 more months and we might be upset about people leaving too. Just please remember people, the game is Galactic Civilizations, not Metaverse. I know that the metaverse brings people together in ways that GalCiv can't directly, but shouldn't our ties to the game be firmer than our ties to some score? This is one of
I personally think that it is a neat little idea, however it is not likely to happen as the budget for the Metaverse has been spent. It would be a great idea for Gal Civ 2, which they appear to be working on, so maybe we can see something like that there.
My only problem with SF is that I haven't been able to find out much about it to know if I want to try it or not! :) I went to the Drengin.net tab above, and when I tried to select the SF program I kept getting an error. I don't know enough about the game to know if I want to play it or not.
Welcome to the family Chenghong Huang and King of Pain! Glad to have you with us.
Oops, sorry! With it being the second to last post I thought it was a recent question from over the weekend. I'm surprised this thread was brought back up from the depths instead of creating a new one. Anyways, once again, I'm sorry I wasn't more attentive Ray. Thanks for pointing it out Kryo.
Hey! We're fairly active too, and we are definitely on the move upwards! :) I'm sure you didn't miss us intentionally Ray, I just had to toss our hat into the ring.
Yeah! It is finally Friday - I'll have time to play the game again! :) Sometimes I hate having an active weekday schedule between work and activities with friends - now is one of those times! :)
Nothing at all - I got a chuckle from it, that is for sure. I wasn't complaining about it at all - whatever makes you happy.
I think we were looking for people that were serious in joining us, not having fun with the Metaverse! :) I have to admit I was stunned to see that The Kingdom of Aldar had jumped to 8th place for a bit! :) Seriously, it isn't terribly hard to join - they took me after all, didn't they? ;)
Sounds like you play pretty much the same way I do LDiCesare! I once suffered through a 1700 BC debt just because I accidentally clicked on the accept button instead of the cancel button!) :) (That is primarily what our reloading is supposed to cover - accidental mis-clicks.) You would probably fit in well with us. Not that I'm trying to steal you away from your current home (ok, maybe I am a little!) :) You are welcome to come visit our message boards and see if we might be a good match fo
Thanks for the news Theoden, but I have to admit that it will probably be quite a while before either Aldar or RB break into the top 10. There is quite a large gap between 10 and 11, and it will take a fair amount of time to surmount. Not that we won't do it, just that I don't think it will happen quickly! :) Alverin Meritol.
Personally Ray I already follow all of the rules addendums that you posted (with the possible exception of alpha strikes. I will position myself to attack several colonies at once if I am going to war with someone, but I won't bribe them or others to start fighting first, which is where I feel the exploit is. Even then I rarely strike more than 3 planets when I declare war, and I always play large, common, so that isn't that much over all.) I actually play by slightly tougher rules th
