I am not a newbie but I have never figured out a couple of things: 1. Wormholes? Can only survey ships go through wormholes? If so, seems stupid. I suppose you could fit colony or fighting ships with a survey module. 2. Resource Points: A research point increases research but of what? Your entire research? Or only the planets in a certain area? Economic: How specifically do they affect the econo

Devil- How do you burn planets in DL? I thought all you could do is invade them. As for the first point, in DA and TA you have planets of different types that cannot be colonized without the proper techs. As to which techs I research first, I end up counting the number in each type and research the tech that will get me the most planets right away. I find there is some difference from game to game as to which type predominates with good planets. I usu

and less of a hassle: I don't whether the devs will ever work on GCII again, but here are two things I would like 1. When you punch the colony button, bottom left, it should show what type of planet it is: normal, toxic, high grav, etc. This would be particularly helpful for the unowned list when you want to colonize. 2. When you capture a planet and get tech, you should be able to refuse it or have it not automatically go into effect for all of

I didn't have this problem with DL. I will design a ship, save it, checkmark the item to keep it my user created ships. It will stay there for that game, but not for future games. How can I design a ship and keep it for future use?

Zipped and sent this afternoon. It happened twice in the same game. The second time after I reloaded an earlier file from the game and played for 3 hours, saving continuously. After 2 1/2 hours, I got another corrupt save file that could not be reloaded. Same debug.err message. I may reload DA. I am worried this may repeat itself though I have been playing DA for a year on the same computer without this problem. Of course the versions of DA have chang

Deep in DA game in huge galaxy with 2 AI. The last two days I have been having trouble loading saved games. I can get going if I go back far enough but it is getting annoying. The debug.err always says the following about the Altarians (one of the AIs) right at the end of file: Debug Message: Can't find ship type è'¼p€ÔDXT5 in definitions Debug Message: Ship Altarian Frigate M4 v9 8254 does not have a v

As I have reported earlier, when I play in a gigantic universe with just AI opponents, later in the game when there are many, many ships, I lose my blue icons for new ships at the beginning of the turn. I can't launch new ships unless I go from planet to planet and launch them one by one. If I save, quit, and reload, I usually will be ok for several turns before the same thing happens. I assume this is memory related. BTW I am running 3gb on Vista. Se
Because the game only checks for victory conditions when a turn is being processed. IIRC losing goes the same way, you don't lose until you press turn.
Well, that is clear. But why don't they code it for victory after all the AI's are gone? The code does check and announces that an AI is history.

I think we should list a few simple things that would help playing the game. That would take much to implement. I would like to see in the colony list that shows after hitting the colony button what type of planet it is: aquatic, toxic, etc., without having to look directly at the planet. Perhaps the planet icon in the box could show it. Or the symbol for that type of planet could show up.

You may not want to do this but play fewer opponentns in a larger galaxy. Ultimately, then if you can keep your economy and morale in control, it's production that wins games. Tech apparently gets a lot more expensive in TA. I still don't have a lot of experience.

I playing first game of TA. I have the menu set so that all ships including colonies are automatically launched. Later in the game, at the beginning of the turn, I get a bunch of blue icons indicating new ships. I hit the green arrow. Normally that means all of the blue icons should disappear. I hit it and maybe half disappear. I have found a few ships have not been launched. Not sure if there is a connection.

I am running Vista on a year old Dell Duo 2.2. I have the regular dock with one extra tabbed dock. Normally I boot in slightly less than a minute. It seems that with ObjectDock Plus it seems to add another 20-30 seconds. This after several boots. I realize this will depend on the machine and the number of docklets going. I have a clock, calendar, and weather docklet. I suppose it takes time to get them going.

I guess with accelerated start, you have no choice as to which race you play and no choice as to opponents--you get all 8. Not happy with that either. Maybe I need to go back to DA. I noticed this thread earlier. Some indicated the problem was largely fixed. Some said that tech inflation was involved in earlier games. https://forums.galciv2.com/313609 It would be nice if the devs would address the

Sounds like a downer. I think there is an accelerated beginning and I suppose mods could diminish the effect. Still, it sounds like the devs wanted to make a very different game. I wonder how many like these changes (they may like others). The devs are concentrating on doing Elemental and are unlikely to help much, if they in fact want to. I am playing on a gigantic galaxy and haven't been able to research nearly as much. Waiting, waiting, waiting.&nbsp

I know there are more features in TA. New lotsa stuff. Different tech trees. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but the techs seem very slow coming. I doubt that I have less research points (probably more) than I had in DA. Researching Invasion is taking 10 turns. Same with a bunch of other techs. I am started to get bored. If I have got it wrong and am stupid, so be it. I can handle it.

Yes, I have the latest video driver. First TA game. Some of the anomalies don't show up with a symbol on the main map even if you scroll out the main map enormously. There is wording for the anomalie if you scroll over it. The anomalie does show up in the mini-map. Is this a bug or a feature?
