I was on Challenging and made sure to forklift upgrade my military whenever significant advances in military technology became available. Another thing that helped was selling my obsolete spacecraft to particularly aggressive minors in unreachable areas. It's amazing how destabilizing 40 battleaxes can be when they suddenly appear in the Drengin backyard.

I just finished a game where I had all the civs set to Pure Good while I was consistantly taking the evil option regardless of the cost/benefit (some of them really don't buy you much for taking the evil path). What I found is that the "pure good" drengins are still warlike as hell. They're just a lot more self-righteous about it and tend to drag the rest of the universe into war against you with them.

yup. I've noticed that my influence goes down pretty remarkably when I go the evil path. Also, not getting hyperwarp on a gigantic map is a pisser.

I don't see this as particularly abusive in an unrealistic sense. We do this kind of crap all the time as a nation. We practically strongarmed the Japanese into buying up the bad loans we gave folks like Citibank and Goldman Sachs during the "Mexican Loan Bailout". I hardly see how this is much different.

I think they did nerf this in the latest patch. I can't get my constructors to get the movement bonus either. I suppose that was to prevent folks from "teleporting" Terror Stars into the heart of enemy territory by bringing them in in pieces.

That BHammer is useful for far longer than any other ship in the game. Even well after Battleships have been obsoletized by Overlords and such, the Bhammer makes a perfect garrison ship. In the midgame when mobility is a concern, a LOT can be bought by just using starbase catapults. You can add a HUGE amount of MP's with Stellar Wake and Inverse Tractor beams if you stack the starbases in a sector. The incremental difference in MP's between the Bhammer and the Bship then is statistic

JD, Use the starbase "catapult" technique and you won't really need the added movement points in the frigates. I've played games with my Battlehammers arriving in hostile sectors with 12 movement points left over.

1) Eliminate stuff from the build queue you can't build. If you've built Frictionless Clothing at one system, why does it appear as possible in another? 2) Show Trade Routes on the main map. This makes planning where to put starbase improvements on Gigantic Maps easier to place. 3) Online Tech Tree. It should shade in the ones you have already completed. As it is, it's pretty darned confusing. 4) Scrollable archive of messages. As it is, I'm sitting at my console

Follow the Bush Doctrine. I've used it in a number of games and it works like a champ. Be in a constant state of war and extort the AI players for money to "end the senseless violence". This is worth at least a couple thousand bc every couple turns. ;)
