I always have a 20% tax rate and 100% spending with no problems. I usually end up winning cultural victory it seems. Of course I'm playing on normal on gigantic maps. Since I can't submit to metaverse I'll never know what score I get. Besides I usually get bored when I am winning and restart anyway.

I agree. Some of these buildings are worthless. In some games I build them because there is nothing else to build. Perhaps if they allowed a capitalization wonder like civ?? I just hate wasting all that money.

I've never had any crashes with this game and I've had it for months. CivIII PTW on the other hand does crash every hour on the hour and I've given up playing it. ( same computer ) Anyone know if Firaxis gives the same support as this company. I think the answer is no.

I'm on my 2nd game ( 1st with 1.03 ) and my culture is taking over the galaxy. As far as I can tell the key is getting those influence resources and maxing them out with influence modules. That and building on the influence galactic wonders, and culture improvements and should be ok. Its cool taking over planets without firing a shot. One surprise was that I'm on AI bright/normal and this happened. I had a 13 planet that I improved to 16 and the Arceans had a 42 planet in the same sect

my whopping score of 800 never showed up. I played my first game on beginner on a gigantic map to get the feel of the game and only got 800 points. I'm now on challenging on a gigantic map. hoping to score better and hoping the score might show up this time.

Boy has this gotten off topic. Yes the American Revolution was fought over 5% taxation and what was percieved as lack of representation in Parliament. We now have tax brackets of 38% and even if you have a great accountant you end up paying at least 20% with all the state and local taxes they have now. That the USA I hear its worse in the EU. That combined with a 2 party system where both parties suck and we are way worse off than then. We just have 200 years better technology to benefit from. <

In my last game I had two of the major races throw in the towel pretty early. I got about 10 free planets one time and the other race gave about 8 planets to a race with only 2. That last one made no sense. We were allies though and I went on to win a cultural victory???

dirty dishes must be common a side effect of Galciv addiction. We should start a support group and list all of the side effects. Here are a few of mine. -Dirty dishes -Long Grass in yard -weeds in garden -unhappy wife/girlfriend ( or both ) -inability to watch tv without similtaneously playing galciv on your laptop -posting on stardock.com while you should be working -fat dog ( no excercise ) -fat self -insomnia -when you do sleep you dream of "cult

Is there a way I can get a high score with rare or uncommon habitation settings? I don't like tedious games and having to manage 100 planets is just too much like work. Even this last game that I finally finished with a tech victory seemed to drag on because as I conquered races I had to manage more and more planets.

I've not finished a game so don't listen to me as an expert or anything but I have restartd a few times after dominating on easier levels to get the feel of the game. This is in a gigantic galaxy on AI normal for everyone tight clusters uncommon haibitation. I did uncommon becuase I figured that would cut down on micromanagement later in the game on the big map. So far so good. soil habitat improvement from here I build stuff depending on what the planet needs. I

great, thanks for the answers. I think it must be soldiering ability that this race has at 1% a turn. they have +89% which seems pretty high. Of course if they never get near my planets I should be ok but I won't be able to conquer thiers very easily.

Uh, I pay 15% taxes and I'm pretty pissed. The highest tax bracket in the USA is 38% with no deductions and those are usually large corporations with not enough debt. Anyway the point is that excessive taxation does piss people off. Heck the American Revolution was caused over taxes of like 5% or something stupid like that. Once you build enough moral boosters later in the game it should get easier to raise the tax rate. At a certain point the population growth you get for a lower tax

I'm in a game where one of the races discovered an event that makes them superpowerful. It said that if I didn't kill them they would eventually take me out. Should I worry about this? How many troops does it take to conquer a planet? I'm sure it depends on population but is there a ratio? Great game BTW, it made me late for work this AM.
