CariElf, interested in hearing from you re: the pathing stuff we discussed a week or so ago. Do you have a way of contacting me? -Heath Dill ~SDC~

I've implemented it in a TBS of my own. In Java, but that doesn't matter. Do you have my email addy in your database? I forget what info it asked me for when I signed up. ~SDC~
Want help? ;) ~SDC~
Well, no dice on the fixed-width. Cut and paste those babies into notepad (or emacs, you freaks). I'm sure many people have seen the behavior I'm talking about here - it costs a point of movement and that's certainly frustrating sometimes. Fortunately, on this board, things like this come up and the developers actually care! ~SDC~
Curse you, variable-width fonts. Don't know how HTML works in these posts, but I'll try posting the diagrams again: A....... .C...... ........ ........ ......B. Fortunately, the vastness of space allows an optimal path without even scratching the ship's bumper: A*...... A**..... .C*..... .C.*.... ...*.... ....*... ....*... .....*.. .....*B. ......B. (each 5 asterisks, 6 moves, however you want to call it. Many times, including
Because she's a woman. Now, why can't ships drive? Exhibit the following example. Ship A wants to get to point B without crashing into planet C. A....... .C...... ........ ........ ......B. Fortunately, the vastness of space allows an optimal path without even scratching the ship's bumper: A*...... or A**..... .C*..... .C.*.... ...*.... ....*... ....*... .....*.. .....*B. ......B. Gonna have to go with stupido. No offense intended, though. If you want a notepad, keep a notepad by your computer. I'd really prefer the programmers work on stuff related to gameplay and UI rather than implementing things that even windows has had for almost 20 years. The alternative is just too simple, and not worth the time spent to program it and work it into the game. ~SDC~
AMEN. Hear that, Neverwinter Nights!?? (Similar to GalCiv in its incredible support, though GalCiv is primarily developer support through and through, whereas NWN is dev-support for the engine, user/modder support for gameplay.) But another AMEN to you guys for earning such a comparison in the first place. ~SDC~
Fact is, MOO3 is gonna take more than a patch to make it playable. The problems are so deeply rooted and the lack of legitimate functionality so profound that nothing short of an overhaul (and does anyone have confidence that the people who put MOO3 out have any competence to perform such an overhaul?) will help. Gross problems: * AI sucks * interface depth makes trivial tasks ponderous * combat broken (incl. PD broken, AI cheating, lack of minimap laughable, direct fire we
Rally points, plain and simple. Do it by star system. You have the star system selected, choose your rally point, and all your ships head there once they're built. Makes starbasing way easier. ~SDC~
