One other problem I just noticed, that's very odd. Sometimes I need to close certain applications in my tray. For the most part, I'm able to do that without any problems (it's usually actually easier to do it with ObjectDock, than the windows tray). However, (and this will sound really odd, like its a joke, but I'm totally serious) I was trying to close, I think it was either some software for my Kodak digital camera or for my HP printer (I cant' recall which), but the icon for it simply woul

I just purchased ObjectDock Plus recently, and I like it so far, but I've been having some problems customizing it. The biggest problem is that I'm trying to adjust the font size to something that fits with the icons better, so they can display more characters. I go into the General Configuration, Advanced Options and am trying to tinker with those settings, but nothing I change it to actually shows up, even after restarting the PC. The setting that I change it to actually holds, but
Sometimes when I try to tell a colony to build a different ship than the current production, when I come back, it's still producing the old design. This seems to be the case if instead of clicking 'done', you click on the option to go back to the planet screen. This needs to work more intuitively, so that regardless of what screen you are on or how you get to the ship production screen, or what screen you go to afterwords, whatever you highlight last is the ship that will be produ
I just completed my first game. I like epic length games on huge maps, and so that's what I started out with. One thing that I noticed was that as your tech advances, it takes longer and longer to build (or incredible amounts of money to buy) some of the more advanced improvements (best example would be factory improvements). I reached the point where if I obtained a new planet, either by conquest or colonization, it would take anywhere from 150 to 400 turns just to build a factory, or over 9
Let me first say that I don't know much about modding, but I enjoy a lot of the mods that others have built. I tend to download mods every few months, and when I do so, I tend to download and install a bunch at a time. Last night, after installing several new ones, I noticed that one old one, a Mini Colony ship had disappeared (it was supposed to be available from the very beginning). Anyway, I looked into the Omega pack mod that I had downloaded, and I noticed that it too inc
Thanks, Active Governor ignores GNN reports is the one that did it. In retrospect, it kind of makes sense, but I don't think if I tried I could have come up with something more obscure and confusing to describe the option. I don't know what's wrong with something like 'Don't confirm queued social production' or something equally brief and to the point. -Haldur
I just downloaded Altarian Prophecy last night, and have a question (I'm sure I'll have more later, as I can't find any documentation). When I played the standard galciv, in the production cycle, it would only display a planet if either a new ship was preduced, or the social production queue was empty. In the new game, it seems to bring up the planet display on social production even if the queue isnt' empty. Is there a way of switching the game so that it works the old way? It's not
I'm not sure but that does seem to make some sense -- I believe for that game I was playing the technologists plus had maxed technology bonuses. -- Haldur ~SDC~
I was playing a game on the largest universe size and was getting very close to a tech victory -- I managed to settle all my existing conflicts, and turned research investment up to about 60 percent, the other two to 20 percent, and adjusted my spending so that I was making a profit of about 200. I checked the tech screen and it showed I'd have victory in 1 or 2 turns. I pressed the next turn button, and saw my money plummet to around negative 14k. It happened a second time after I got my mon
1. I'd like to be able to click on a fleet without cancelling its orders, and have a visual indication of the fleet's current go-to orders. 1b. In a similar vein, when I select a ship from the ship list, if the shipo already has movement orders, it automatically carries them out without allowing me to actually change or reevaluate those orders. That's just terribly frustrating. I've lost planets because of this -- all I'd have to do is retarget the ship to destroy a transport I just spott
What had me confused is that I've tried using this advantage a couple of times, and have yet to see it actually affect planet quality, although the various terraforming techs are more obvious. Are all fractions rounded down? If that's the case, then there would be no visible effect for planets of base quality of 19 or under. If that's the case, then i will try starting another game to verify that this actually works on higher quality planets. If not, the advantage doesn't appear to be doing
What exactly does this advantage do? Do I see uninhabited planets as if they have greater quality than another race that does not have this advantage? Or do I receive bonuses to pop growth, morale, etc, as if the planet had that quality bonus, though I don't actually see the planet that way? It makes a big difference as far as whether I should, for example, go for planets that are of lesser quality, knowing that I have that bonus. It would be great if I could either see the p
I thought that AMs were great at first, also. HOWEVER, somewhere along the line, they seemed to become very inneffective in my current game. I have yet to figure out exactly why they became inneffective, but it was obvious to me (after losing one after the other) that they went from being a mainstay to being kind of worthless. So I do not feel that they actualy are overpowered -- they have their place, like any other ship you build. You just can't depend on them forever.
1. I want to see certain types of notifications, and additional info regarding the existing random events, as well as not-so random events. For example, I am playing on the largest size map, and see the notification that due to precursor discoveries, the inhabitants of Planet Lacroix were able to improve the quality of that planet to 35. Unfortunately, I can't figure out for the life of me where the heck that planet is, or who owns it... The only thing I could figure out easily was that it w
I've noticed that fleeted ships doesn't seem to get the speed boosts but solo ones do. Are yours fleeted Hehe, I was posting my follow up while you posted this. I don't think it made a difference if the ships were grouped or not. I started out fleeting nearly all my ships. But I know that I had unfleeted ships -- most notably freighters and constructors, which i almost never fleet. -Haldur ~SDC~
One other thing I forgot to mention in my earlier post... When ships are grouped into fleets, certain functions seem not to work correctly. Auto Attack, for example, patrols, etc. Also, let's say I have two different types of ships in a fleet and they have different ranges. For some reason, it LOOKS like the ship has the greater of the two ranges, even though the game correctly limits the range of the fleet as a whole. Further more, the game displays the fleet as hav
Starbases don't move unless they're terror stars and then they're only supposed to have 1 move point.
I think you are misunderstanding what I said (unless this was in response to someone else's post). What I meant was that I thought that Stellar Wake was supposed to affect the speed of OTHER ships that you owned in the same sector as the starbase, but they don't seem to have any affect whatsoever, regardless of the type of ship, normal movement rate, whether the
I'm playing my first long game to completion on the biggest map, and I'm not 100 percent certain that all of these are bugs. I'm currently in the very late stages of the game: 1. I conquered the last Altairian (sp?) planet, but they still show up on the diplomacy screen (albeit with no planets listed). 2. I've bult Avatar and Overlord ships, that appeared invisible on the screen (at first I thought they just had cloaking ability) I also built a terror star just for the heck of it,
