Martok, As the art director on Gal Civ I take the opposite approach it seems. I don't mind getting flamed :-) It makes me mad which in turn makes me work harder to make sure the game doesn't suck. I am a gamer first and a artist second I don't take anything people say personally I only want what's best for the game. Plus I would much rather get flamed now in the early stages of the game then in reviews where it really counts. I do understand Rantz though, I mean you want to make s

Until we get things like diplomacy, trade, The United Planets, etc. It may seem a bit fast paced because there isn't much to do, yet. Right now it's more of a conquest game, which is only a small part of what Gal Civ is, this is only the beginning. One thing we have done with the help of your feedback is fix the "nothing to do at the start" with making anomalies more important early on in the game. You will see a huge improvement in the overall game flow of Gal Civ now. Soon as we

Yeah it's a huge improvement from the one currently in the alpha 4 build. I think you guys will be pleased, or so I hope :-) There have also been major changes to the main screen area, new stars, anomalies, debris, etc.

I agree with you "Fun 4 Free" when it comes to the casual gamer but I think the a FPS gamer, also know as a hardcore gamer just doesn't have the patience to play a turn based game, or any STG game for the matter unless of course it's from Blizzard. I think if we give the game a faster paced early on, we may be able to attract hardcore gamers ass well. Of course later on it's a different story :-) In the end we are making this game for the Hardcore strategy players.

I booted up the old M002 the other day and played it for like 5 hours straight!! I couldn't believe how much fun and addictive it still is, I mean it's still better then most games now. Micro prose really knew what they where doing back then. I have faith in Quick Silver that they will do whatever it takes to make moo3 ROCK, so all this crap that's going on doesn't bother me I think it will be a great game when everything is all said and done. :CONGRAT:

There is something about Gal Civ, it's like it's a really simple game at first but under the covers you have a wealth of depth. It's the type of turn base strategy game that you can pick up and start playing right away, without reading the manual. It has a really good UI that just makes sense, any gamer will be able to get into the game in the first half hour. I am of course talking about the OS/2 version, this is how I felt the first time I played it, when I came for a job interview like 3

"I like the basic movement = 3. As I mentioned in an earlier thread though, a doubling of the space involved could be needed to balance this. Or else you'll have ships nipping from planet to planet on their turns which you can never intercept in space. Certainly the current problem of a war ship being unable to catch a colony ship or transport is very annoying. Paul. " Having colony/transports that slow (1) also adds another game play mechanic. We now HAVE to es

I would also like to add that you only get "10 points" on the easiest level. I don't think I will ever play ANY game on the easiest level. So you are looking more at like 5 points to distribute normal. I also think putting all your points into nav, is a waste try putting them all into your economy or production and see what happens. I really do like the idea of a base of 3 movement points for military ships like a star fighter but for massive ships like a colony or transports I think the
