Custom Opponents working for me, too, now. Thanks so much for the quick fix!
On the other page you can see my debug.err with more information, its a geforce 6600 gt agp not integrated, desktop pc
That is the exact card I have and I just got finished installing the 174.74 driver with no problems. Did you get it from [link="http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_174.74.html"]this page[/link], because that page says it supports the 6 series cards.
Just an update, I uninstalled ALL of GalCiv2 and reinstalled. Same problem. Thanks for all of the support today, and I know you guys will get it fixed in the next few days. Have a good night.
I just tried to install on my laptop that had the beta installed. Before I tried to install at all, I uninstalled the beta and deleted the twilight folder from the Program Files directory. I went to delete the my documents\my games\gc2twilight folder, and didn't even have one. I installed the expansion, and I am still not able to create a race.

Ha, this is the exact reason I just came to the forums. I will be sad if we can't use custom races with this expansion. UPDATE: This is a quote from the newest journal by Brad Wardell: "Players can now design their own civilizations that even have their own unique technology trees - and players can create additional tech trees with the included editors." Maybe I am missing something.
I would also purchase every expansion pack that you put out. I love the game and love Stardock as a company. Keep them coming!
I have to agree with you about the enV. The camera is not half bad for a cellphone, either, because the autofocus makes the pictures turn out better than they normally would. The navigation system IS amazing, though. I use it almost 3 - 4 times a week. Living in Atlanta, the search and mapping system can be a life-saver. I would also suggest, if you are into sports (college football, baseball, anything) to subscribe to VCast and do
I get that sometimes too. You can just click 'build' on the ship panel to have it start construction, rather than wasting a turn moving around. Oh! Thanks for the tip!
Does your debug contain any lines to the effect of "could not create graphics" or something similar? No, there isn't anything in there like that. The debug.err is here: debug.err Thanks for the help, Kryo.
I am using the 1.6 beta 5 patch right now. I don't know if this bug has been mentioned, but my asteroid mining bases are not showing after I build them on the asteroids. Here is a screenshot: My debug.err is tremendous, so I didn't copy it here, but I can send it in if I need to. I am also getting the bug where mining ships don't start mining automatically wh
Thanks for the hard work, guys. It is appreciated!
I also have an Intel CPU and do not see the graphical glitches or have slowdown.
Stormbringer, these are beta patches for a reason. Nobody forced you to install them. Point taken, but the initial beta was there to address some 'bugs' that were in the original release of the game. Therefore, how is one supposed to get a bug fix unless they update? Do you see what I am getting at? If the game worked fine out of the box then these updates could pound salt for all I care because the game already has 'enough' feat
The point you don't seem to get, ToS, and that myself and others are trying to drive home is that from any other game developer, especially the major ones with tons of resources, you hardly ever get the devotion and support to the community that Stardock gives. In my opinion, people like you are the reason for that. When you provide too much community involvement, people seem to think that they can tell you what to do and demand things from you, and even attack your work ethic and time managem
Ok, here is where I have to chime in, because your problems with the game have now transformed into whining about the amount of community involvement that the developers have and how it affects the quality of their games. So are the other coders working on something else? The new game? No, the rest of the 30+ coders are just sitting around playing Oblivion and drinking coffee... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Ew.gif" borde
I do have to say here that the management and employees of Stardock are people, and people with valid opinions. Even if you do not agree with these opinions, the opinions are no less valid. They are also allowed to express their opinions in any reasonable way they see fit, with blogging falling well within the category of "reasonable." That being said, most of the blogs you will see on JoeUser are not Stardock employees. Frogboy, by far, writes the most blogs of anyone at Stardock.
The beta is here: 1.6 Beta
Picking weaknesses? This is the first I heard of that. I went to look at Brad's Guided Tour of Dark Avatar and didn't see anything that mentioned how you could customize your race, only mention of opponents, so I'm curious what's new with that. I know you can choose your race's special ability, but what about weaknesses, etc.? While I am happy that IGN gave such a good score to DA, they did have a few mistakes like this in the review, which leads me to
These kinds of dev journals are always very interesting to me. I appreciate you taking the time to post them up, Brad.
I'm not sure if these have been mentioned before, but I have found 2 bugs in the game creation process... one in the custom race creation area and one with the opponent selection screen. The first bug happened when I was creating custom races. I created 6 custom races with no problem and saved them all. I then created a race for me to play as and saved it. After that, I went back to add 2 more custom opponents, but when I got to the Starting Techs tab, there was a problem. I have a
where did he say something about GC2 being a console game? Right here: Either way I would say galciv2's release was not stellar by a long shot, if Galciv2 had been released for CONSOLES with the bugs it had with w
I cast my vote for a public beta and later release date. However, even if there wasn't going to be a public beta, I would still vote for a later release date, because I know that DA will just be that much better. I must admit, it is really nice that a company actually thinks about how the customer might feel. The thought process seems to have been "Hm, we have all these features that we would like to get in, and the customer would love, but we don't have time to get them in. Let's
I agree with everyone else. Take your time with the expansion. Even though I want it NOW, I know that if we wait and let it turn into what you guys envision, it will be so much better. I am definitely NOT against a public beta for those who pre-ordered, either. Looking forward to an announcement. P.S. I did not enter the contest, but good luck to everyone who did!
I haven't heard about the race logos on ships yet. That sounds awesome! I always use a custom logo, and it will be great to see it displayed on my ships! You guys are doing excellent work. The epic generator sounds like something that will be extremely interesting and I look forward to seeing how it turns out. I have been wanting to actively influence espionage, too. You guys were correct. This isn't an expansion... its a sequel!
