If you liked SPAZ you will probably like Rebel Galaxy more.
This brings up an interesting point though - were you a hardcore player of SCII, Myst, etc., grabbing your notepad to religiously catalogue your adventures.... because you WANTED TO? Or because you had no other option?
That is a good point about want vs. need. Personally, I would like some quest tracking with general objectives but low detail. That is simply because if I go a week without playing it w
@pierced2x, I checked all the old backup files but I've got nothing that goes back 20-years :( I'm sure it is on some ZIP Drive or SPARQ drive that got e-wasted 10-years ago :( The database is gone but I still have the map!
I love the idea staying true to the Arcade/Action/Adventure style of combat where we are keeping it simple and not complex. When SC2 came out it was nearing the end of the D-Pad + 2 Button era of gaming (I bought a game pad connected to the MIDI port just for SC2, 2nd player had to use the KB). However, the Action / Adventure genre over the last 15+ years has been 6+ buttons. Rebel Galaxy is as Arcade in 2015 as it gets (my opinion) and that still uses every single b
Simplicity I too want to see the game be very simple, yet have some depth to it. Think Rebel Galaxy vs. Elite Dangerous. I like in Rebel Galaxy / SC2 how super-easy it is to just upgrade and try very different setups. In Elite there are classes, levels, and other non-sense that I just don't want to figure out. I want to shoot stuff in SC2, not spend hours in my EVE hanger spinning ships. Loadout & Fleet Idea
I haven't bought a physical copy of a game in over 5-years, even collectors editions are digital now. However, I would certainly purchase an updated HyperSpace map. My map from SC2 is loaded with penciled in spoilers and used to have an accompanying Access database with the exact resource amounts on every planet. I think that was the first time I've ever created a database/wrote a program for a game I was playing.
Timed quests is fine. Timed "the whole universe changes and you cannot go back" is not very fun. I echo the 8000 saves comment.
I see this as an amazing opportunity. I look forward to helping any way I can helping SC come back. Reading a few of your other comments here I feel the same way. Nothing has filled the SC void with the exception of Mass Effect so many years ago.
