Demo freezes in Galactic Civilizations I Stardock Forums

I downloaded the demo from Gamespot. I have only been able to get past March 2178 a few times. Most of the time, the Turn button will turn into the circular state and never return. This will happen as early as February 2178. I have tried swapping any and every game option, but it rarely gets past this date. This demo, as it stands, is no way to evaluate this game. I certainly cannot afford to spend money on a full version when the demo won't play past game turn 2 or 3.
