me want play game. Where game? game here? no. Game there? no. me wantee!!! ~SDC~
wow, i had no idea this would create such a fuss. i was mearly whining cuz that's what we do best. ;) i think each side has posted his/her view ad nauseam. the stardock people can do what they wish at this point. if they have been keeping abreast, perhaps they can glean something from all this. hell, they can raise their children as they see fit. all in all, it's no big deal. no hard feelings either. i mean, come on, what am i doing here... really? i'm trying to get my hands on the mu
assuming that stardock and the galciv team are fairly cool, it was my intent to let them hear how their current policy here runs counter to my previous assumption. you know, i have this image of a group of people standing around a particle-board table yet having intelligent discussions and making the right decissions. that was my impression of stardock, kind of "grassrooty". which is appealing in itself. it makes me want to patronize their establishment. but lately it's been feeling odd. more li
yeah, i know. but what if you don't care about the other products? well then, it would not be worth it. it's a kind of salesman-type approach. you know, like: "act now on our golf clubs and we'll throw in this 47-piece titanium cat-box ensemble absolutely free!" (a $200 dollar value!) well, that's great. and i'm sure the other products are swell, but for the person who likes galciv and only galciv, it's unwanted fluff. :p and i am not about to enlist because of the vague implied promise of galc
ackk!!! so the beta's out now... and the final by the end of summer (possibly). and after checking the site nearly everyday for over a month in anticipation for the expansion pack, i learn that i could either wait a couple MORE months... or pay $30 for the beta. am i alone here in thinking that's crappy? pay $70 (original plus drengin membership) to get the "free" beta... or wait 2 months at which point it really will be free. well, i have to say that this game is nice and i ha
nice post, papa. i think it speaks volumes that people want to contribute to the gal civ evolution. yes, we all have our gripes, but if it were truely bad, we wouldn't care enough to gripe. contrast this game with moo3, and it becomes apparent that despite their seemingly hugly complicated game, gal civ is cleaner and when it comes down to it: more fun. i'm one of those people who loves the details and the costomization, but at what cost, moo3? (speadsheet nightmare). althoug
oooooh, i almost forgot (i did forget): can we have graphics that surround the planet when things like planetary defenses and such are present? you know, some sort of translucent bubble or something. that would be cool. and while we're on the subject, the starbases could have a few more graphics options. you know, not just to represent the number of modules, but to represent the kind of modules on it. e.g. with so many defensive modules, it appears to have guns or something on it. but
i agree with the last post as well as others who have suggested the same. as offered before, the techs are fun to discover the first or second time only. any further play has us wishing we could go directly to that tech we want without using notes or our dreaded memories.
within "Events" in general i think there's a problem when you tell some sort of story. Something happens, and you choose an option that modifies your alignment along with some sort of reward/punishment. but these stories which we've attached to the "event" don't really mean anything to us. there is no impact on the game other than the modification of a number here and there. you might as well say only: pick a,b,or c. and you will get a reward... ok, there are long-term effects here such
oops, and one more thing. why must we be human? i'm already human in the real world. i'm playing a game and want to be something other. can't we be one of the other races and play against humans?
2 things: 1. POST WIN PLAY(for single player only): option to continue playing after win condition(s) are met. you know, so you can bask in your own glory and enjoy the benefits of your efforts... maybe even create events that occur for these post-winning people only... (new aliens come by and stir things up, or a mass monster invasion to test our defenses). maybe the game never ends! we've built this empire that is supposedly the best, let us play with it now and test ourselves. game b
