Darn it, I'm stumped. I even flipped through some mythology reference works hoping for inspiration. You might just have to tell us the answer, Mig. Or at least some more clues. On a brighter note, I was inspired to create this riddle myself: First two are a parrot that is named most commonly; Last two are well-known, out for all the world to see; Four a one-eyed wonder in a cave where No Man be.

1) In a quiet neighborhood that is conveniently close to a major metropolitan area with plenty of interesting things going on. 2) Married. 3) A large house that could be mistaken for a castle, with lots of nooks, crannies, secret passages, and other architectural goodies. 4) Professional know-it-all. Have a question, I've got (or can find) the answer for you. 5) Having enough success to travel at will (which will in

Okay, try this one: As a whole, I am both safe and secure. Behead me, and I become a place of meeting. Behead me again, and I am the partner of ready. Restore me, and I become the domain of beasts.

Oh, one other thing, regarding feeding too much: Babies will always let you know pretty immediately when they get hungry, but they won't always let you know when they've had enough. I overfed Krystal several times in the hospital because although she had eaten her fill, she still enjoyed sucking, so she didn't spit the nipple out or anything. Only later, when she horked up a big ol' blob on a couple of nurses, did they let me know about this.

You got it, mig! I'm still working on your other one, but here's another classic riddle, by Lewis Carroll: "What is most like a bee in May?" "Let's see--I think--perhaps--" you say; That's good! You're thinking well today!

Or, if you're not so lucky, as soon as her butt hits the water, she pees. Yeah, babies don't really get very dirty except from pooping, so a good application of diaper wipes will keep them pretty clean most of the time. A sponge bath every 2 or 3 days is fine until, as Dharma and Trina said, the cord falls completely off. (Which usually takes a couple of weeks.)

Don't bother putting me on your favorites list, I've only posted one article ever. I'm not much for generating original material, I'm sort of a community floater. We didn't nurse for terribly long either; Krystal came out HUNGRY and was getting formula within minutes of birth. Add that to the surgical complications and we didn't even get started nursing until the 4th day. It is unfortunate not to nurse, breastmilk is generally pre

mig: No, you didn't get the bowling-ball/bridge puzzle. Nice try, though. The standard answer is that he juggled the bowling balls, which would mean that only two were in his hands at any given time, thereby achieving the 200-pound restriction. Of course that wouldn't actually work because the amount of energy you have to impart to the balls to juggle them would effectively m

It's not that tough to drive a stick-shift, and it's never too late to learn. Well, unless you've gone blind or lost your right hand or something.

Argh. No hand up here, though I did get to stay asleep until almost 3:00 instead of the usual 2:30. (Whee.) Did the doctor say why you should stop nursing? To create a sidebar with your favorite sites, click on the "My Account" thingy that should already be on the sidebar, then choose the "Manage Custom Sites List" radio button that's at the bottom of the list at the top right of the headers and click on the "edit" button above the

I also hear that you should not eat/drink much caffeine (chocolate/soda/coffee/etc), as it may also end up in your milk. Especially with a small baby (four pounds!? That's TINY!) you don't want to be accidentally feeding them stimulants. Amounts in moderation are OK, but if you are a 12-Coke-a-day drinker, you should cut waaaay back. (Our baby weighed in at just over 10 pounds, we still gave up soda for a while just to be safe.) When the

Looney Tunes are still the best cartoons ever. I never could stand Popeye, though. Talk about a one-dimensional plot... EVERY cartoon was the same--Popeye woos Olive Oyl, Brutus appears, beats up Popeye, Popeye gets spinach, beats up Brutus, sings his little song, roll credits. Grape Ape, Augie Doggy, Quickdraw McGraw, Danger Mouse, Earthworm Jim, Speed Buggy... Out of the modern line-up, I like PowerPuff Girls, Samurai Jack, Justice Le

For my baby, if feeding and rocking didn't do the trick, then burping was usually the order of the moment. One other thing that may help is if you have a baby seat that has a "vibrate" option. We have one, a PlaySkool "Soothing Vibrations" chair, I think. I speculate that the constant buzz helps to settle the contents of the baby's stomach, making it easier for her to burp or otherwise eliminate any troublesome gas buildup, plus it is like a m

The answer to Smartaz' riddle is: A Last Name. Another math-based puzzle: There are 4 women who want to cross a bridge. They all begin on the same side. You have 17 minutes to get all of them across to the other side. It is night. There is one flashlight. A maximum of two people can cross at one time. Any party who crosses, either 1 or 2 people, must have the flashlight with them. The flashlight must be walked back and forth, it

Generally speaking I've noticed that people will listen to someone else just long enough to hear what is being talked about. At that point, one of four basic reactions kicks in: 1) I agree with the speaker Then I will listen to him for as long as it takes to reinforce my own beliefs. 2) I disagree with the speaker Then I will dismiss him as
