I don't know about other's learning curve, but it was rather hard for me to go from AI normal to AI intelligent. Yeah, it became easier when I've learnt fastest way to frigates :( Imho, good tactics for lower difficulties can be not that efficient for smarter AI. So far, every difficulty level changes game dramatically for me. Metaverse is rather good scoring system right now, better than was before, but an option to see best players based on game difficulty would be welcome.

Sorry to said that, Miguel Suau, but I think that you waste 'presious' points for extra +2% ;p Update to the numbers above: 11 11.55 11.77 12.1 12.65 12.87 13.2 13.75 13.97 12 12.60 12.84 13.2 13.80 14.04 14.4 15.00 15.24 :p ~SDC~
I like them. Took me five minutes to find 'very good' person on the bords and was surprised to see that only game he/she compleated was rated as 'pure evil' ;) ~SDC~
I've made a mistake when said that +2% worth 3 extra picks. 5% worth 3 picks, 7% cost 8 picks. 5 points for 2%. I do not see reason to take 7% at all. 5 piks spent on morale and economy will do better IF PQ-affected calculations use whole numbers. Lets hope Frogboy will clarify this. ~SDC~
It looked rather useless when choosing racial picks, so I've decided to calculate if advantages of 5% (5 picks) and 7% (8 picks) worth the price. Here it is. Note that I post numbers just in rows. 1st is starting PQ, second is with racial pick 5%, third with 7%, following in the same order with modifiers by soil enrichment and habitat improvment. So: ctl 5% 7% ctl+ 5%+ 7%+ ctl++ 5%++ 7%++ 13 13,65 13,91 14,3 14,95 15,21 15,6 16,25 16,51 14
I've played few games so far and found that diplomacy tends to be near useless unless... Well, first of all, AI will rarely accept even deals, even with 100% diplomatic bonus given to human (populists+DT+70% in picks in v.1.03). Why? C'mon, I wouldn't think of Industrial Theory to be so important (one of the cheapest techs so far) but why they want Trade+something else for that? Put aside all weapon techs.. God, it is impossible to excange something like Corvet (sp?) technology till yo
I've played as War party with max bonuses in soldering, some in defence and offence, and +1 speed, tiny map and normal difficulty. It was peace of cake. Most of the time I wasn't investing in techs (after getting star fighters and transports). I think that soldering is more important if one plan large scale invasions. With AI troops advantage 1:6 it was a sure win for me. Only one invasion to Torian home system failed (1b vs. 9.5b, ~2b left). Now I am playing as Federalist on huge map w
Call me Dustman. I couldn't register to stardock with my favorite nick(s), and thought that few would take E-S-C-P-T. Yeah, I'm in. ~SDC~
Do you need Ukrainian living in Denmark? My first submisson to metaverse is quite impressive ;p To 'gross' members: have you noticed that your pancy leader haven't submited a single PE game? Contrary, evilness of most memebers of European Alliance is a fact :) ~SDC~
Thanks everyone for replies. I'll try to play with speed + range +sensors next time just to see how fast i can expand. Btw, industrialists with maxed mil production bonus seems to produce colony ships at double rate than others right at the start. ~SDC~
Hello, I've bought the game three days ago and played 3 games so far. One as Populist with bonuses in pop growth, diplomacy and speed, another as Universalist with bonuses in luck, morale, diplomacy and sensors and the last as Federalist with maxed economy and large boost to diplomacy. Since all games had different PQ settings (last with federaleists was at 'rare') I can't exactly said what combo was the best. As Populist I was getting biggest part of income from tributes due to sel
