With the exception of NextStart, they're all freeware applications of different ilk than SD apps. HoverDesk is shareware, limited to a free 30 day evaluation. Registration is comparable to both SD apps and NextStart (20.00). NextStart's inclusion is a bit if an enigma to me. Beyond being a pioneer skinnable product and thus having gained the respect of Stardock's decision making staff, it's a mystery. I haven't visited Winstep.net in a while, maybe there's a symbiotic exchange somewhere

Well, it's a bit complicated. This site is owned and funded by Stardock, the makers of Windowblinds, DesktopX, ObjectBar and a host of other apps. HoverDesk is created by another company and is a direct competitor of Stardock (notably with ObjectBar and portions of DesktopX). Since skins hosting is a form of product support and promotion, it makes little sense that Stardock would pay for HoverDesk's promotion and skin hosting. Sigh... Thanks guys/gals. I've gotten more into conceptual art and digital painting and have started visiting those forums more and more frequently. Mosly lurking and dribbling in a few posts here and there for right now. I'm still a little awestruck at some of the talent displayed there. Try renaming the .ip file to a .zip, then open with your favorite archive extractor (WinZip). The .ip file is created so it be recognized and auto installed by the Stardock application IconPackager. But I believe it is not much more than a renamed .zip containing the icons and a .iptheme file.

Thanks Brad. You should also know that the site limits itself to OS look-alike skins such as, BeOS, Aqua, NeXT, WinXP... Skins that are artistic creation beyond the scope of OS clones are not allowed.
