is it intentional for the Yor to only have 4 phasor techs rather than the usual 7 (ie they have phasor 1, phasor 2, phasor 6, phasor 7)? or is it corruption in my tech tree?
Is this a bug?
i found this once in the beta and reported it - so i think it might be. ChristopherRobin, i believe the autodesign ships replace the default ships :)
this here, ladies and gents, is the mighty nEVER-nEVER from the legendary GC1 empire, the ANZACS. lest we forget...
ah dA bIG bUNDY gULP & bLOW :CONGRAT:
If you click on the Yor at startup, the startup techs *include* the 2 new techs (firewalls etc). If you click on another race, and then back to the Yor, the 2 new techs disappear (which is correct). as an aside, i got the startup techs a little confused in my last post, but (if I've got it right now *this* time) I believe the Korath is missing Germ Warfare in the startup list, and the Korx are missing Xeno Mysticism. another aside - there appears to be some 'corruption' in the tech tree -
these may or may not be bugs, and may or may not have been put on a list to squash, but as time approacheth.... 1. New hull types in isometric view, wheras old are 2D top down 2. efficiency studies II is the *only* efficiencies studies that is tradeable. 3. the mini map toggle open/close is still present if you go into ship design via the planet screen on the second attempt. 4. resource harvested messages pops up twice. 5. intestellar construction triggers auto ship design, b
I'm not sure what you mean by "Defense can't be graded % wise." I haven't seen any instance of the AI putting components on the ship that you don't have tech for. If you have a save game, please zip it and send it in to Also, what do you mean by "still no upgrades for AI designed ships?"
sorry cari - wasn't clear - the "defence can't be graded" meant I can't set my defence to 33% shields 33% armour 33% point defence, o
on reload the the ship design focus defaults back to beam/shields, even if you have set it to something else, and giving you wrong ship designs if you don't manually change it back. anyone else have this? also, defence can't be graded % wise and you can't set it all to zero. i'm also noticing that if you have 100% shields selected, for instance, when you have no shields, the AI still seems to attach a shield style component to the hull?? still no upgrades for AI designed ships?
1. ctd in ship design, upgrading base transport with better engines (playing altarian). debug sents 2. arcean military rating is 'strongest' in diplo window, but 'zero' in race comparison window.
playing as torian, when the planet naming screen comes up, it's in arcaean yellow, which affronts the torian sorely, and lo, they wash their webbed hands and tetchily settle back into the moist slime from whence they came ;)
old bugs: the looping of dropdown of "console" on main map when entering ship design for the second time from planet screen constructors on resources - "do you want a starbase" message appears twice? trade goods not adding into overall % on planet summary screen - appearing seperately (this may be by design?) new ones: upgrading AI designed ships, M1 > M2 > M3? (might not be implemented yet?) one start up had in system Athol (Arcaean), Arcaea, Hammer 2 and *A

i'm having a closer look at the graphics degradation (with my low-end rig, possibly the lowest you can play GC2 with ie PM 1ghz, intel extreme 2, 512 ram), and the deterioration doesn't take long - within about 15 minutes from starting the game, playing around with a medium sized ship in the ship design window will drop from 15fps to 4fps, then down to around 1-2 fps. usually with this rig, fps problems only occur on large+ ships, and only in the battle sequences. anyone else having this issue?
perhaps you need to install directx9c?
Degradation in 3D rendering over time - specially in ship design window and fleet battles. saving and quitting and starting again appears to correct it for a while. this may or may not be connected to: A weird mini drop down loop created by going into ship design from the planet screen, then back to planet screen and ( or scrolling to another planet) then into ship design again. those with 'insanely poor graphics that deteriorate with time' can see that the main map comes up mo
playing yor - terran asked me for research academies where, of course, i have collective academies typo "prisions" in the write up planet detail screen for planet that had the been voted the galactic prison and going back to a previous q....if you spy on your own planet why does the output vary from what you see on your planet screen?
The new race specific techs has got me 'quite excited', so.... some more Tech Suggestions: 1. the irony of my torians building an arena of agony cos it's a better morale building made me wonder whether alien buildings should come with a penalty of some kind (say a morale penalty) which can wax or wane as the game cycles from cultural love-ins to xenophobia....which led me to.... 2. trading/stealing tech is made a 2 stage process. trading/stealing tech places that tech
is it just me, or is the military/social/tech production not adding up? i noticed it playing torian, then checked playing terran - spying on me own planets gave a different set of numbers to what was on the planet screen? or iz i going mad again....?? (this is above and beyond the tech capital issue) no, not the return of....the nutmeg
just to clarify - no minors in any game where Warp IV/Hyperwarp III turned up, with no precursor technology to back up research path, and, yes we're talking within the first 10 or so turns of startup. maybe 'creative' is over-working?
add to playing the torians: building a tech capital didn't work? (no 100% for me) also, opening the planet window has the default tile view on a blank green screen. is this right? looks a little wrong to me.
yep, noticed this too and forgot to mention it (wot a beta tester)...hyperwarp III is coming up too early in the current beta too
i would like to further add the suggestion that racial specific techs are defined, perhaps by a different text colour or by appearing in a different section (a la trade goods), in the diplo screen. i'd like to know if i'm trading my unique racial techs, or receiving a unique racial tech without having to memorise various tech trees..
don't have tech descriptions. also when trading for them as terran, didn't show up in ship design?
thoughts on race specific tech tree: drengin has some 24 racial techs, arcaean 12, terran 10 - so as you'd expect the drengin feel more different (and feel a little over-powered? tech victory comes to easy for them?). the arcaean lack of engine tech is interesting, and other races should have this kind of impediment/racial characteristic (eg drengin could ignore all forms of government outside of imperial - who wants democracy in a slave economy?). as mentioned by others, don't think ra
sorry if this has been posted already: drengin: upgrading transport and/or using transport template resulted in a ctd arcaean: using battle axe template resulted in ctd smartexception sent (to support@stardock - sorry but program asked for that) still have debug if interested. evil
