the problem is more pertinent when tech-trading is off - then you can't give anyone alliance tech. perhaps, as alliance is fundamental to a diplomatic victory, the AI's should place a higher value on researching it? or tech-trading off disables alliance victory? edit: and, of course, option 3 would be that alliance tech operates like universal translator ie the AI doesn't need the alliance tech fro an alliance to happen, just the player

i've duplicated the 'survey ship freeze' but not the turn stalling. on another note, 'luck' events (eg lucky ranger, ship gifts) seem to be triplicated over the next 3 or so turns? evil

my survey ship froze after having the autosurvey automatically disabled when the anomalies ran out. i fiddled with the orders a bit, noticing that if you changed the order to sentry or guard, the turn stalled. left it on auto-survey, and played on, and when an anomaly respawned, off me little survey ship went again. i'll see if i can duplicate it. evil

must admit i haven't finished one either...i've always kinda hated the 'start again' approach to each mission, rather prefering a 'moving forward with what you've got' approach...if you made a campaign that starts with a tiny corner of an immense map, moving the player though the various map sizes (tiny > small > medium etc) with a combination of specific targets and mega events forcing you through the epic story, i'd be there. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.

evil's tinkering continues: startup experiments, terran ships, zoomed in: 3 ships = 3.7fps 2 ships (miner, colony) = 4.5fps 2 ships (miner, survey) = 5.3fps 2 ships (survey, colony) = 7.1fps 1 ship (survey) = 16.0fps 1 ship (colony) = 10.4fps 1 ship (miner) = 7.0fps no ships = 20.1 - 30.1fps fyi

i'm surprised you haven't moved to a fully fledged subscriber system where only TG subscribers can be beta testers as part of the value-add (here in the performing arts, a niche market if ever there was one, we tend to get, depending on the market, 30-50% of our annual $ sales up front via an annually renewed subcription service) - i'm still waiting for my 'offer of renewal' from stardock, filled with benefits and value-adds, for my recently expired subscription <img src="http://images.stardock.

finally got the latest beta (thanx to cari and support) so (b1.65test): PM 1gz, 512Ram, Intel Extreme 2 64MB (ie the usual) has a similar slowdown on ships reported, but not the graphic glitch. as an experiment, i started with different races to see if the ship slowdown was specific to a race (it wasn't), then turned off various grahics options to see if that would help (it didn't, except a slight improvement when switching off ship textures - from 4frames to around 7 - context i can ge

1.6b2: performance boost terrific. looks better too. congrats to cari and team. bugs? rename The Jagged Edge as Jagged Edge so don't get 'the The' in text. Also still recommend that Jagged Edge doesn't use a minor logo that is already in the game. perhaps, jagged edge should just have it's own logo? i tend, despite it not being reccommended, to save ship designs on top of previous ones - there is some weirdness if you do this (creation of user templates, new designs keeping old

the Jagged Alliance Event introduced the Jagged Alliance with the same logo as the Dark Yor who were already present in the game. have a save game if you want to have a look. evil

firstly performance on my PM 1GZ, 512RAM, INTEL 852/855 GM/GME much quicker - nice! in order to play previous versions i had autosave, software cursor, and point sprites disabled. i can play with autosave and point sprites enabled, but the software cursor appears to still occasionally crash the video driver? fyi. lemme know if you want a debug.err evil

merge galactic resources with non-expanding minor races, so that an exclusive alliance with this race gives you the galactic wide %bonus. this makes this exclusive alliance a tradeable commodity/flashpoint for war. also if a major race invades and destroys the minor race, the galactic resource is lost. shall i gain a planet or gain a resource?

link political parties to % breakdown of spend - move outside the spend = morale problems, loss of election, new party, with new spend % ie the politics changes to the way you are playing (no penalties in losing the election, just the penalty of having to play with the new spend criteria) examining spreadsheet increases vs build increases - what i mean is that if you research the life support techs you get an increase in range without having to build life support on any of your ships. o

If you get Planetary Bombardment but not Planetary Invasion, can you build troop transports? The above makes sense if the answer to my question is 'no'. the problem is i can get to/trade for advanced troop modules with the AI still holding out on basic troop modules/planetary invasion.
