I have a question about population. What is it good for? I read that pq is the only factor that affects the amount of money a planet generates. And, just because a planet can potentially produce more doesn't mean it will, does it? But how do I get into the actual program to update using Star Dock Central?! Then I see the 1.04

I see resources on the map that aren't near my star systems. It says "research +5%," for example. My question is: is that a universal bonus, or is it just for planets I own in the same sector?
