I would have actually been like well no one knows the answer and accepted it at that. Actually I was satisfied with Greenreapers answer on the newsgroup as he knew that the function is not in there yet. Anyway, apology accepted. [Message Edited]

No, cerebroJD that's not what I was trying to do. It has nothing to do with mousovering (or anything simple like that) it has to do with whether the window has certain buttons or not which buttons it shows which I've already explained. Show disabled buttons for the buttons unless there are no buttons which then it would show no buttons. This specifically was for the close button. And no I.R. Brainac I don't want to use MS Styles just so that dialog windows like I show above will correct
Take a look at this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v447/Adia06/closebuttonstuff.jpg The top one is classic, middle is MS Styles, Bottom is WB (with a theme I'm working on). So I tried setting the visibility on the close button to not show if there is no min or max button before but it also stopped showing on windows that have neither but still have a close button which isn't what I wanted it to do and both classic and MS Styles do it. So I need visibility options for the close butto
I didn't find it because it's not there. I asked on the skinstudio newsgroup and I was told (by Greenreaper) that the function isn't in WB. So there's no way it could be in skinstudio considering that. Are you telling me that you are seeing the option in there? You're obviously not understanding what I am trying to do. And no one has provided any proof that it is in there. What I want is to have a disabled button (not to be confused with out of focus) for the close button when there is not one a
Because there is a certain effect I'm trying to go for and this would help http://www.jasoco.net/data/ss/full/2003-05-18.jpg . Why can't I put in features I want without being questioned? You aren't going to run this skin anyway so it doesn't matter to you what features it has. If other skinning systems\OS' can do it I don't see why I shouldn't be able to if WB allows it. I'd really appreciate it if no one knows the answer that they would not post a reply it's counter-productive.
Use visual styles for a while and you will see which windows don't have them. Also could I get some help rather than resistance? What purpose does it serve to give me resistance? I must be blind then because I haven't found it yet in skinstudio either that or I don't have the right version (and I can't upgrade because my subscription ran out recently and I don't have the money yet). So could someone PLEASE tell me the setting so I can manually put it in instead of giving me the run around? If yo
That's because WB usually doesn't have the option to not show it if there isn't one. But MS Styles do have that function built in. However Frogboy said there is that option in WB but so far hasn't said how so I was hoping someone knew.
I looked there but it's not there that's why I was asking to see if anyone knows the code you are supposed to put in.. Ugh... And yes it is possible for a window to not have a close button. Sheesh instead of getting answers I get more questions. Frogboy said in the comments for the transparency article that the option is supposed to be in there but no answer as to what the number is that I'm supposed to put in and like I said I can't find it in the list of visibility options in skinstudio. I onl
I was told that the close button has lots of options for visibility but I can't find those options in skinstudio specifically, "show if there is a close button" or "show if there is NOT a close button". So I was wondering if someone could help me out. What are the visibility settings to do those things so I can edit them manually into the uis file?
From what I heard that probably is not going to come out soon. Probably when the longhorn betas come out at the earliest. And even then it probably won't have Aero (Glass). It would be just like Longhorn is without DCE available. To me it seems from what I've read that it's just a compatibility layer to run Longhorn programs in XP with XP looks. But I hope that is not true.
Oh yeah when I say the (win transparent buffer) api is built in I mean with the kernel.
It's just a different way of implementing the transparency: Quartz Extreme -> OpenGL WinXP\2k (which is an api built into the OS and apps just access it) -> video cards overly buffer. I had noticed that it can cause conflicts with things such as some video overlays (especially hardware motion compensation for DVD's which seems to me that it might actually be using the same overlay buffer as transparent things) which is what causes the flicker that sometimes happens because when I turn that off i
I am not familiar with Matrox G450's capabilities but here with my GeForce2 I don't have that many redraw problems. However, a thing to think about is in OSX with quartz extreme transparency is handled by the GPU using OpenGL where in XP it's either done in software or done by the overlay portion of your video card (if your card supports hardware transparency overlays). Also GDI and GDI+ are done in software and GDI especially is no quartz extreme.
Oh yeah this wouldn't be for shadows anyway this would be to be able to add per pixel effects to the titlebar it'self.
Maybe a submenu for the right click desktop menu that allows you to pick from substyles of the current running skin and have a 32-bit substyle and non 32-bit so with 2 clicks you can switch to a non 32-bit version of the same skin.
Per pixel borders aren't like shadows as the bitmap is different. It's not like the program does real time antialiasing to the titlebar that toggles on and off done by a seperate program that you can shut off either. A person can include a non 32-bit titlebar for those who want borders as they are right now. Perhaps it could strip out 32-bit as a choice but things could get pretty ugly with that. So I suggested using a substyle that doesn't have 32-bit as a fallback skin. No need to have a meltd
Just like you can choose to use a skin with animated borders or one that doesn't.
All you would have to do Thornz is just pick a skin that doesn't have per pixel transparency.
You can do that with a tweaking program such as tweakUI.
I coudln't find no such "show if window has a close button" or "show if a window doesn't have a close button" in skinstudio. Which versions of the software do you need to take advantage of that if it exists.
Are the "only show close button if there is a close button" options in the previous version of WB? Or do I need the new version to have them.
Two more things which WB has needed imo which I'm not sure it has now is visibility settings for the close button and more freeform toolbox borders. I'd lie to be able to have the size of the buttons on those and the border independent of each other and to be able to add\remove buttons there just like with the titlebar.
I agree with judge about using 32-bit bitmaps for the shadows rather than interpreting the greyscale value as an alpha value. I would also like to define how many pixels a shadow is offset seperately for each side in the shadow to be able to do custom shadows for wb skins better. I have a theme which I plan on working on which is waiting for that feature. I myself have also been wanting alpha blended (32-bit) borders as well for a long time this would enable antialiased titlebars which
If you can set the titlebar to be semitransprent seperate from the window contents i don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to put a 32-bit titlebar. Otherwise it would just be for the whole window and that's not what we need.
If I myself say something about a program I use it's because it's a good program and it's being given a bum rep. Case in point, WB for quite some time there had been people who said that it's a memory hog, slows things down etc. but all this time even when it wasn't as optimized as it is now it took less memory than visual styles who's themes service takes up 25mb. Also explorer on it's own takes up another 25mb so when you are using visual styles and explorer you are using 50mb. Anything more j
