Agreed, but does anyone else see that an army is less effective than unorganized bunch of units? Can anyone clear things up on when you actually want an army (joined units via meta unit) and when you want to just pick up some units in a command group and let them do their work?
We really could use your help on the reviews. We took a pretty big hit when people started down voting Ashes because they thought Escalation was a replacement to Ashes (it's not).
What the difference between Escalation and Ashes will there be? Will it be like sc2 wol and sc2 lov?
This is now working in our internal builds! This might show up in 1.5. I actually do remember times when our local game shop had like 20 games available and it was considered one of the biggest ones. I also do remember that when you bought a game you actually get a full game with all of intended content. I also do remember that when a expansions came, they were expandind the universe of the game not adressing issues in core games desing. Btw those expansions costed somewhat 30-50% of the core game value. What we have nowadays?

33 Replies 210,930 Views

Well ill just leave my 2 cents here. I will not buy the expansion and would not recommend it to my friends for these reasons: 1) When buying a game i really expect to buy a full game, instead of "big part" and a few "small parts". The game has been out for like 3 months and we already got 5 dlcs with MAPS (each for 4-5 euros). Now we actually have to pay extra 20-30 euros for PROMISSED core game feature of large maps, and some new maps + new units/orbitals/land reskins (okay t
Haven't refined my play to that point. I know you need ~60. And I know you start with enough for one logistics upgrade. I am assuming a rush would want to spend that on weapon upgrade.
Depends on your strategy. Many rush strategies are based on around orbitals (avatar or probing force) and aircraft. I think going in upgrades early, since it consumes all of your quanta, is a bad idea. If i do remember my numbers corre
So wait... you get more HP boost for less quanta? How is that not a better deal?
Not quite. Its a question of tradeoffs. For example. For attack upgrade lvl 1 you need 100 quanta. Same goes for hp upgrade lvl 1. You get 13% of attack or hp depending on upgrade type. Each subsequent upgrade lvl costs more quanta but it ads roughly the same 13% of attack/hp. So for example if you got lvl 3 attack upgrade your dm

No new race in expansion? That info on expansion looks promising i might go back to play ashes after it hits. Soooo.... i know i will get kicked by every single person in this forum for this idea, but how about adding some sort of "pre game customisation". Like in sc2 in allied commander mode, you could choose a commander with various strategies and perks that impact the game. Can we get something like that for a purpose of strategical diversity? For example some minor "

You can actually see the percentage by hovering you mouse cursor to that upgrade. For my personal experience, radar thing is nearly useless on small maps, storage aswell. So the only viable option is either attack/defence or orbitals. But i think orbitals are far more profitable on the early stages of the game. You got to keep in mind that the larger your army grows the more benefits you get from upgrades (it affects more units, so more usefullnes). I often go for prior

Well guys dont know about others, but i have given up on AoTS because: 1) Balance issues (i hadnt been here for 2 months now, but i dont think it got better). 2 races is not enough cause always there will be a dominance by one of them over the other; 2) Repeatative gameplay (every game ive played was like "well been through that scenario, seen that"); 3) Lack of content (single player is getting boring after a while, and i dont actually care for mp). You can say to me

Just select an army with at least 1 t2 unit in it, press construct button in the bottom of UI and there you will have your ordinary unit building buttons, just press them and you will see +1 or +n in your armies UI. That is how reinforcements work, when a unit is build, the +1 or +n will dissapear and built unit will join your army automaticaly.

5 Replies 29,484 Views

I your army consists of at least one t2 unit or higher, you can request a reinforcements to that army. Reinforcements are queued randomly at any free of production factory and continue until your requested units are built. For example if you have 4 factories, 3 of them are idle, 1 is producing something, then the idle ones start to produce your reinforcements. The bad part is you cant specificaly "link" a factory to your army, if you have a few factories close to your army, and another few in

As far as i know, there is a hidden unit limit which can join a single army based on logistics amount. For example the answer i got when i reported that "bug" was - only a 150-200 logistics (maybe mistaken the correct numbers) of worth units can join a single army without "breaking" the command group. So i started to make more ctrl group and limiting the unit count in them. It works for me, but i really would like that multiple meta units could be linked in a single ctrl group without this "b

I think new players need a lot more info in game. For example you should be able to see the cost of your units or buildings without pulling your mouse over them in the build tab. You can add the cost (whole cost and cost per sec) on to the 'build unit" button. For example when im in construct tab, i should be able to see how much metal/radioactives/logictics every unit i can build will cost me. You can also add a per second cost somewhere near the full cost (same as when you pull your mou

@ Gatokatcha The problem is that as i stated before, i mainly play as substrate vs normal AI PHC or substrate and i just faceroll them with ease. But when i pick PHC no matter what i do i loose like i mentioned above. I dont think its difficulty thats hitting me, if that was the problem i would be rekt while playing as substrate aswell ^^ &

Well i had 11 t2 units, 20 t1 units vs their 6 t2 units 9 t1 units and lost hard. My army was twice as much as their army t2 vise and t1 vise, and i lost. So kinda it has to do something with t1 units aswell as t2 units. Even if i consider above shown as cost efficiency instead of quantity, substrate won a battle with units that cost less then my army. You said that the problem is with people trying to swarm substrate with a lot of brutes, as i mentioned i used only 3 stacks of

You must be kidding me. Last game i put 3! anti air turrets near my nexus with a radar, 2 packs of substrate bombers took them out and destroyed my nexus. Answer me plz is this balance? Ive build couple of apollos, 5 artemises, 2 zeus, 2 nemesis, 3 stacks of brutes, 11 stacks of archers, 6 medics, and got rekt by 4 drone hives 2 avengers and a couple of t1 (3 rechargers, 2-3 stacks of reapers, 2-3 stacks of martyr). I ask again, IS that balance in your opinion? T

36 Replies 111,066 Views

I do agree with topic starter. PHC cant do anything against substrate. While playing agains a PHC AI as a substrate on normal difficulty i can faceroll AI any way i want. Tried a few games for PHC vs Substrate AI on normal, got rekt every single time with no chance on survival. Substrate t1 are FAR more supperior to PHC. In even fights phc losses every unit while substrate loses not more than 30% of his army. T2 vise the situation is similar, artemises cant handl

Played Ashes for 5 months now, i am quite surprised how the game grew since its early access phase. After the official release i was quite disapointed in ashes, cause well i thought that ashes couldnt deliver much strategical diversity and its campaing mode is just too straight forward. BUT, before making my final call on ashes i sat down and asked myself, why dont i get along with ashes? The answer was quite obvious - SC2. The way that most of RTS nowadays are being mad

Hello, Brad! I disagree that maps are should be sold as a DLC, cause like mentioned above this will lower the potential of competetive MP matches. But, lets look at starcraft for example. They sell single player content like co-op commanders, skins, campaings etc. So my proposal is dont do DLC for MP essential components such as maps, new units (via dlc, expansions are still ok) etc. But focus on making scenarios, campaigns, skin packs, different apliable voiceo

Thank you for a reply ASADDF, maybe thats the issue. Cause the problem occurs only when my army grows in numbers and i do tend to keep all of my forces in one or two armies. I will do some more testing and will post here the results. Is there any info somewhere on the limits of meta unit? And can i somewhere see current logistics use on my meta unit (or free logistics to add to meta unit) or do i have to count it myself? =) Can i group two or more meta units in a single group via ctrl

6 Replies 6,446 Views

Not quite. In the video above player didnt use army button that much. The issue i experience is somewhat like: I build aprox 10-15 t1 units (pack of units), put them in command 1 for example (ctrl +1), then i add a few (5-10) t2 units (put them in command 1 too). Form an army via V button from all of the above listed units. Then i order some reinforcements to that army. A few of my factories produces units via direct order (not reinforcements) and a few
