Sorry, must have went and made a backup save when and then exited normally prior to posting that log. I'll try updating my drivers and setting my resolution to 1680x1050, the most recent patch certainly helped performance enough. Here's a debug log from right after the crash; Debug Message: Version v1.61 Dark Avatar last updated on: Wed Jun 13 14:10:36 2007 Debug Message: Checking DX Version. Hello. i was a fair deal into the game, and I've played quite a few games prior to this one. My game just seems to crash at the end of the turn, or the start of the next. I load my most recent quicksave, hit end turn, watch as the other civs make their moves, and then I get a straight up CTD. Its specific to when I end the turn, and I can tell the exact moment when it does crash. Here's my debug.err; Debug Message: Version v1.61 Dark Avatar last updated on: Wed Jun 13 14:10:36 200
Great... seems that when the AI opens said green rock anomalies, the sharks prefer to harass me over them. Oh well, I can power through. Its not THAT bad, just gotta focus more on station defense...
I recently came back from a almost year-long hiatus from playing this game. Seems quite a bit has changed. For one, events dont happen anywhere near as much, but no matter. The real question is this; the last TWO games I played, these wierd 'space sharks' appeared very early, destroying various defensive ships, and my starbases. I had not the techs needed to destroy him at this time. Is there any particular trigger to these sharks, or was I just unlucky?
I always play the technologist, but the first time i played i tried the universalists. Ive also tried less-than-stellar games as the federalists, the mercantile, and the war party. As for early on spending, i always have it set to 75% military and 25% research :) that or something around there.
I lease, mostly just with trade goods and galactic wonders, as does seemingly everyone else. Do the AIs perchance have the ability to lease? Anyways, I mostly use mitrosoft, but it depends on the situation really. If its a ship being built, and its rushed, it almost always is the galactic manufacturing Corps that does it; no long term pain! Of course, only if the ship is partialy built; i use GMC to 'finish' building ships that are like 80%-90% done, and i've set military to
I thought my first three games were bad...
Is luck really this good? I think I'll try it myself!
Lets not forget that the purple quoncil is going to be bought out by mitrosoft soon...
agreed
Those are the logos for the major races, save for 11, at least thats how its appearing for me...
hmmm... nothing seems to stop some of the majors from trading the techs to the minors, but perhaps i should try this. My main problem is getting transports on time (if i attack that early, the transport ship will take fooooooorrrrrrreeeeeevvvvvveeeeerrrr to get there, for one)
Add me to the list of people that agree that this is a good idea...
Well, the tech-trade for TG sounds fine, and i do agree it IS better when a minor gets it and not a major, but the conquering trick is questionable; they ALWAYS have the trade good by about halfway through the expansion phase; a time when i have like no military, and building one is suicide (still need colonies and bases). And at this time, they always seem to have at least 10 defensive ships around each star system... argh. By conquering them, you mean later on, right? How do
How do i keep the &!@$ minor civs from building trade goods before I can?!? They always do it, and about 3 turns before I finish them, to boot, wasting many turns of production! (Note: Im new to this game, as my scores suggest)
Well, It seems my account is up now, AND my two games are submitted as well, so I must be registered, even though I never got past the error messages. At least im on the list now!
Its still not working... the rest of the site (forums, library, etc) loads fine, maybe someone should look into this...
I cant even register my player. Im new to the game, and havent even finished my first game, but after inserting my player name and serial number, i get a "this page cannot be displayed" error... any help? Do i need to finish a game first? Even if i do, I doubt its the problem, as I would (I assume) be sent to a "finish game first!" page, not an error page.
