I tried to mod the cruiser class this way (It didn't work using the existing models, but here's the idea) - Bulldog Destroyer - Basically a Cobalt and Javelii mixed together. However, it is a bit on the slow side. Kodiak Light Cruiser - Like it is know, except for a slightly more powerful gauss cannon and good point defense capabilities. Victory Heavy Cruiser - Basically a scaled down capship - a good all around ship that I think would from the bulk of any fleet.

If WOW were to get PVP really right (i.e., it actually MATTERED for the entire Alliance/Horde) it would have to start with a name change- "Battleground Azeroth: Total War". "Ironforge has been captured by the Horde!"

At least, Frogboy, it always fails. When I have problems with games, it decides to work sometimes but not others - nothing like trying to start something 15 times to get it to work because the copy protection goes "Boink!"

I argee.... for a 10 race map, even 15x15 feels too small, especially given how slow the early game is with anything else other than colonizing.

Size, I think, is the more important factor. You can always generate more cash to give to your military (even if it is robbing Peter to pay Paul), but you can't make your ship hulls any larger. Also, the time it takes to build a ship is important; for example, two ship classes in my game right now: Laser Boat II: Size Small, 1 beam attack; 33 weeks to build. Destroyer: Size Medium, 1 beam attack and 2 missile attack, 49

Actually, when I preordered (on Sept. 28th), Stardock sent an email with this: Your pre-order for Galactic Civilizations II (Final Release) has been received. You will be notified via email when Galactic Civilizations II (Final Release) is available. No charge has been posted against your credit card at this time. (Beta III closed like 2 weeks before. Bah. )</

I'm more than a little disappionted in this too. After I read how fun the Beta was even in it's current state, I decided to go ahead and preorder. After I did, I found out the beta was closed. I'm not even going to consider cancelling, though. I think Gav Civ II will be a great game, and Stardock is one of the best developers out there (along with Paradox). I just wish that, at the very least, that the fact that the beta was closed was plastered boldly on the front page. I
